If you can't tell the difference from the two players you're not watching the games. Pretty sure Debrusk wasn't scratched for a dozen games. He scored 27 goals. Debrusk is 10x the player Heinen is.

Depends on who you talk to. Hes looked good in the limited time he got in Boston before getting hurt. They way they've handled him is mind blowing to me at this point.

Boston trades with Anaheim and LA
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyRebound</b></div><div>The one thing I will say about Heinen, and it doesn't mean he is not worth what his salary suggests, is that I have only seen a couple games over the last 3 years where I have thought "Heinen is having a really good game".
Heinen is a great supporting player and is just that. For 2.8 million I don't believe it is too much for a 3rd line player who can play both PP and PK, as well as having great hockey sense away from the puck.
On the contrary, the Bruins have many players who can play that 2 way game and I think that is what makes Heinen expendable to them. I don't believe they are actively trying to trade Heinen and do think the Bruins are trying to get him back on the right track after being mostly inconsistent this season, but it would have to be the right deal for the Bruins to trade him.</div></div>
He's definitely not a flashy player and I think that's why most night he goes unnoticed. I think Heinen's biggest problem is Boston is they've never let him settle into a role. He's been bounced around the line-up because of his versatility and two-way safe game. While its great for the team to have a player like that, it doesn't help the player. He had a solid rookie year playing LW, but last year they moved him to RW to accomdate guys and his production dropped. This year he started at RW again and struggled, but they moved to back to LW and he has a little burst of offense before the break.
I agree 100% with you on the last part of your post and I'm a Heinen supporter.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>Thornton ain’t happening. No interest on either side.

As for the premise of your post, I couldn’t disagree with you any more. The bruins have two centers about to hit the decline. They’re going for it.</div></div>
More a question: If you could solidify the center position by bringing in thornton for a 4th or 5th (because he CERTAINLY isnt going for a 3rd lol), would you? This way Coyle can play his natural RW position (although he has been good at center), and they can still bring in Kase, Toffoli, or Kreider to play 2nd line RW
Imagine the perfection line
Debrusk - Krejci - Kase
Hienen - Thornton - Coyle
Wagner - Kuraly - Bjork
Screw it I may just make it an ACGM for the sake of getting feedback. Go comment on it man :) lol
Update: There is interest on the sharks side. And Thornton's side. Not sure about the bruins, but their need is 2nd line RW and/or 3rd line Center

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>Not according to Brass it doesn't.
He was not happy getting 3C minutes in PIttsburgh. He stated plainly it "wasn't a fit"
Honestly, I thought he played well there. He is a good player. But he see's himself as a 2C, right or wrong.
I don't think you would get what you are expecting to get out of him. The penguins surely didn't think so, neither did a lot of the fans.
But for 40% of his starts in the offensive zone, he had 9 goals on the year when he was traded. I wasn't complaining. But the Corsi of that line sucked.</div></div>
I don’t care what he wants. He is purely a rental and can seek a 2C job in the offseason. Fills the need of a 3c without giving up a lot.

2 years....and he's kind of likely to retire before the deal is up. I don't think it's an issue as I don't think the Blues will be ready to compete for a cup in the next two seasons, so he could probably be a good influence in the locker room for the kids. As much as his contract stinks, the guys a real pro.

well, two guys that defintely say no are duchene and stone. No way they want to stick around that team for below market value.

Literally everyone says no.
To move Backes, you have to wait until next year where he loses his NMC and only has a limited NTC (he can pick 8 teams where he's willing to go to). You have to find one of those teams that has room, and give them a significant asset to take him. I'm talking a very good prospect, or multiple picks including a 2nd rounder.
Love Krug for RNH concept.

Puljujarvi for Heinen
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BreKel</b></div><div>But but but!! He was drafted Top 5 sooooooo lmfao. There are people who would trade Heinen for Sam Bennett, and Jake Virtanen as well. It's funny because if these guys were Bruins (Bennett, Puljujarvi, Virtanen), fans would be crying about how they passed on X,Y,Z and would be calling for them to be dealt for scraps while they still had value.</div></div>
You know I'm a big Heinen guy, but I'd do it. I look at a guy like Pool Party and question how much is him and how much is it the organization. I mean we're talking about a team that has had how many #1 overall picks in the last 10 years and they are still struggling to do anything. They have quite possibly the best player in the game and still didn't make the playoffs last year. The one thing Boston does lack is a big winger with skill. I love Heinen as a player (as I've made it known), but if Pool Party comes to Boston and hits his potential, Heinen for Pool Party would be a steal.

An heir to the throne: finding a LHD replacement for Chara
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>Exactly. It's just as important to keep pucks out of your own net than it is putting pucks in your opponents.</div></div>
Yup. And if you put him with a guy who's a bit more offensive and push that pace, it works out well...Krug for example works well.
Side point: It's a thought funny thought but if Carlo was a LHD, he'd be the perfect compliment to McAvoy, in my opinion.

Offseason to Plan for Future
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sagecoll</b></div><div>Lol... What are you basing this off of?</div></div>
Looking at Carlo's numbers that matter here:
relCF% (how much you possess the puck and generate a positive shot differential relative to your teammates and competition): = <strong>-3.21</strong> <----terrible possession guy
relxGF% (how good are you at preventing quality shots for your opponents and generating quality shots for your team relative to league teammates/competition) = <strong>0.7</strong>
Looking at Tony Deangelo at those same numbers:
relCF% = +6.22 <---- great possession guy
relxGF% = 3.92
Now the crazy part is you'd think that Carlo would look a lot better because he's paired with Krug who is awesome. And you'd think Deangelo would look a lot worse because he's been mainly paired with Marc Staal and Brendan Smith. But what's crazy is that Carlo has looked THAT much worse despite that. Now surely Carlo is going to get a lot better he's only 21, and Deangelo is a savvy veteran at....22. We don't want Carlo at all. Please keep him.
Since Carlo is trash, Bjork would have to be a bonafide high top 6 winger (think like trading for Pasta 3 years ago), and he's not that. And we can actually kind of see that in the numbers already. The best future indicator of scoring is ixGF/60 (how often are you personally generating quality shots that would likely be goals per 60 minutes)- And Pastrnak is in the top 5 on the team every year he's been in the NHL averaging about .7.
Now there's a guy on the Bruins now who averages around .7 this year, and that's Debrusk and then we look down and see Bjork 9 players down the Bruins list at .4. (He's lower than Jordan Szwarz).[/quote]
You comparing Deangelo to Carlo really shows your lack of hockey IQ.
Take a drink.

Board of General Managers Official Thread
Regarding free agency, is there a way we can do something like this?
Team who bids most total contract money wins, with stipulations on AAV minimums with term minimums so:
If AAV is less than 1 million, term must be two years or less.
If AAV is less than 2 million, term must be three years or less.
If AAV is less than 3 million, term must be four years or less.
If AAV is less than 4.5 million, term must be five years or less.
If the winning offer doesn't meet those terms, that offer is disqualified and next highest bidder with a compliant bid wins.
This eliminates the scenarios of GMs signing a big monetary contract to 8 years just to ditch and dive the cap, while also making sense since a player would most likely go to the team offering the most total money if we're ignoring all other factors and strictly looking at the variables of money and term.
