Roster player swap
MIN needs to change their D core and free up roster spots for their young LD such as Hunt and Lambos. Their RD side is not as deep with Spurgeon being a question mark in the long term. Adding an NHL ready player in Liljegren would be ideal. Merril will not be a factor moving forward. After Fleury's extension Gus is the odd man out. Wallsted needs NHL minutes next year.
TOR will get a former Vezina candidate that can flourish behind a higher caliber defense. Hard working Middleton would be a great addition with all the changes that need to happen on the TOR defense.
Upfront there is hardly any depth in MIN. Järnkrok can provide some stability and veteran presence in the transition to giving Öhgren, Dino and other prospects minutes. Hate to see Lucchini, Lettieri and other AHL players in the bottom six.
MIN needs another season of rebuilding. DAL, WPG and COL are out of reach for at least another year. The Wild front office needs to accept that situation and try to add players that will make an impact in 2 years.

Wild become sellers part 2
Zucci will have the chance for a cup run with his second favourite team. NYR adds a legitimate scorer and loses a depth player. MIN finally get Perreault after a disastrous pick in the 2023 entry draft.

Wild become sellers
Hartman can be a good addition for Vegas in another run for the cup, dealing with several injuries.
Wild need to rebuild on the fly and make room for future prospects such as Kuhdsnudinov (I know I got tha wrong), Yurov and Öhgren . Korczak can already fill an immediate need. Edstrom gets the conversation going

Minnesota Wild signed Marcus Foligno (4 Years / $4,000,000 AAV)
Yes, 4m for four years is risky.
However, I think Foligno brings a lot more to the table than just grit. He is a leader and motivator and well respected in the locker room.
With Rossi moving up the depth chart Foligno might end up playing with Ek again. The GREEF line was one of the best defensive lines in the NHL the year before last year. Greenway can easily be replaced by someone else.
Foligno was injured for most of last year and seems fit in training camp. In the worst case he will end up in LTIR towards the end of the contract.
With the salary cap increasing and the penalties coming off the books the overall risk is not as big as people are saying. The Wild will have plenty of prospects on ELC or bridge deals meaning that spending 4m in a role player with grit and offensive upside is affordable.
In a time in which raw skill is as high as it is now in the league players that not only bring physicality will be valued. Just consider how much Tampa gave up for Jaenott.

Helps both teams
Toronto:
- Receives a cheap rental and a locker room leader in Foligno
- Clears cap space to get closer to the ceiling
- Gets a prospect and a pick to level the trade value
Minnesota:
- Gets a developing RD for the second line
- Gets two affordable players while dealing with the cap hell
- Has enough space in 2024 to extend Liljegren

Chychrun to MN
Before everyone says: "Russo already said no on the rumor"
Still think this makes sense. Chychrun would be an immediate improvement with Dumba supposedly gone by the TDL.
Addison has been great on the PP but still needs to mature his play in 5v5. Arizona might be able to give him more time. Same for Rossi. He can get NHL minutes without pressure.

Minnesota Wild signed Matthew Boldy (7 Years / $7,000,000 AAV)
This is a steal. Considering who he played most of his minutes with this year he will only get better once he has proper line mates. Not being disrespectful to Gaudreau, Steel, Walker or Hartmann but his production will take a leap when he gets more offensive skill on his line. I am projecting he will outperform his contract similar to Stützle within the next two years.

Lafreniere to the Wild
Lafreniere has just been scratched and might not turn out to be the impact player in New York. Due to the lack of available talent Minnesota had to put players in roles that they would normally not haven been suited for. Gaudreau, Hartmann, Steel and even Zuccarello have benefited from increased ice time higher up in the line-up. Lafreniere would slot nicely into a second line role next to Gaudreau and Boldy. The 2023 first round pick plus a B rated prospect should be enough compensation for a demoted high profile prospect.
Additionally, it would help Minnesota a lot in the current salary cap situation to have an underperforming sleeper on a cheap bridge deal.

Puljujarvi to MIN
Puljujarvi needs a change a scenery and MIN has a spot open in the 3rd line with Boldy. He might fit the hard working play style of the Wild while adding some skill to the lineup. There are other guys in the team such as Foligno, JEEK and Reaves who could help him with the transition to more physical force. MIN has some salary cap room this year and could use this as a PTO. Low risk high reward scenario here

Dumba for Nelson
NYI is trying to sign Kadri and has an abundance of centers. They can trade for a servicable RD and make room in the middle. Brock Nelson comes home to MN and helps the Wild in their weakest position

Chychrun to MN corrected
It would also mean that Minnesota has enough cap space to finally add a 1st line center in Nazem Kadri. (Maybe for 5.5m AVV) and a second line winger in Puljujärvi.

Chychrun to MN corrected
This deals works for every team on multiple levels:
- LAK gets a cheap top 4 D for another Cup run
- ARI gets a NHL ready D prospect, picks and a roster player
- MIN gets a cheap upgrade on D during the tight years
- Addison will get playing time in the NHL
- Chychrun will play on a decent team with playoff chances
- MIN will likely have cap space this year so they can retain part of Dumba's salary for one year but they will save on Chychrun's salary down the line
This could be a win win win for all three teams

DumbaJostPick for NecasProspect
How long will Necas remain an RFA?
For MN it would be ideal to sign him on a 3 year bridge deal until the dead cap hit from the Suter and Parise buy-outs is off the books. (AAV of 4m - 4.5m)

DumbaJostPick for NecasProspect
MN needs a Top 6 winger and Necas might be affordable. MN goalie prospect pool behind Wallstedt needs to be improved as well.
Carolina gets a right handed top 4 defender for another run plus more depth for the bottom 6. Additional draft pick to balance trade value

Goligoski, Benn and Dumba might not be there after the end of the season. Dumba will need to go to make room for Fiala's new contract. Goligoski might not take a paycut and Benn is just bad. Chychrun has a very affordable contract that fits in nicely.

Beckmann almost made the roster from training camp. He is a shooting machine but having a bit of a down year because he is only playing on a checking line in IA. There is no doubt that he will thrive with the right linemates in a top 6 role. Dewar is still a rookie and a potential middle 6 forward.
AZ will never get an A+ prospect for Chychrun if you ask me.

Minnesota Wild signed Kevin Fiala (1 Year / $5,100,000 AAV)
I think this is a good deal.
With the upcoming cap restrictions it gives Fiala and MN a chance to see where the team is after next season.
Fiala needs to perform to secure himself a good contract and MN keeps the control over the negotiations.
If MN is able to remain competitive with young players pitching in on ELCs (Rossi, Boldy, Addison) Fiala will be willing to resign longterm.
