If, and it's likely, there isn't a CBO, some teams should use their cap space as an asset. The top-10 pick is interesting for you guys, but taking Seabrook is painful. Are the 2022 picks to not have to sign prospects at the same time?

While Burns is underrated on this site, Jets already have Morrissey and Pionk for the offense from the backend and Heinola isn't far away.

Not a Habs fan, but they already have three top-6 centers and one other coming. If anything, they could trade one of Domi or Kotkaniemi. They have three top-6 wingers and they need another one. Domi played this season with Weal, which isn't great. I think that they only have two prospects on the wing. I'm pretty sure they'd prefer to keep Tatar than trade him for a not needed player. And then there is Juulsen, a prospect on a position (RHD) where their NHL players are above 30. If anything, both teams don't match well for a trade.

It's pretty much like the Carolina offer three months ago. I guess that since it's the summer, a new contract for Petry must be part of the deal. Like it was for Pacioretty and Vegas.

It reminds me when Winnipeg gaves Montréal Armia, a 4th and a 7th, only to buy out Steve Mason. He had the same contract as Perreault. But the comparison ends here. I don't think they make the same mistake/decision twice.

The wrong part of your comment is that I only can like once. But, in all fairness, the TVA dude didn't bring a rumor or any knowledge about Mantha. He just said what he thinks the Habs GM should/could do with a twitter poll asking Habs fans.

You might think Im crazy but
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangle</b></div><div>why you keep cherry picking 3 years. use this season.</div></div>
This season, Petry has the best Corsi For/Against ratio (CF%) in the entire NHL for defencemen who played over 300 minutes against elite competition and the 6th for Dangerous Fenwick For/Against ratio (DFF%). That means he dominates elite opponents during 5vs5. He is clearly an elite 5vs5 defenceman. But, he isn't a special teams specialist. That makes it interesting for the elite-not-elite discussion.
On another topic, he is clearly worth a first round pick+. Only two months ago, Carolina offered Jake Bean and a first for Petry, which was declined by Montréal. Good or bad decision from Bergevin, it's pointless. What's interesting is that at least one team is willing to give a first and a good prospect for him.

31 in 31 Challenge
It's the first time I see that Ottawa trade. I find it really interesting. It helps both team. Tierney is still youngish and may become the third line center when Cozen is ready for top-6 duties. In the same way, Montour can remove pressure from their young Ds coming. As for the Arizona trade, I'm not sure. Has Stepan really that much of a negative value? I know the salary and the little production he provides, but he is still a talented player. And Raanta is a legit starter to me. I just don't know. By the way, is there a way to include Ristolainen to the trade? Arizona needs a RHD with some physicality. They have plenty of LD able to play both sides. A trade around Ristolainen, Thompson, Raanta, Stepan and one of Goligoski or Demers with picks added.

If Goaltending is an issue
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Fleury is an upgrade on Mete, and on Kulak. Romanov is the only one who causes a problem here. Skjei is better than Chiarot, Fleury is better than Chiarot. Fleury is also young enough to continue to develop. He's had an incredible season, and he's still getting better. Romonov can slot in as the 2LD by the time Skjei is coming up for a new contract, and it allows the Fleury brothers to play together. Fleury and Skjei are both long term cost controlled upgraded on what Montreal has to offer.</div></div>
I understand that you like your team. It's an exciting and young team. But do you sincerely think that Fleury is that much an upgrade over Mete and Chiarot right now? It's seem more like bad asset management to trade a high pick and a good prospect for a second pairing D and a good player they may/will loose during the expansion draft. Even more when they could use that pick for more urgent needs like a skilled winger and a top-6 powerforward. Even if Fleury and Skjei are that much of an upgrade over every Habs LD players and prospects, they still have many one that will fights for the same spots on the third and second pairing.

If Goaltending is an issue
Montreal already have many longterm options for the left side on the second and third pairing : Mete, Romanov, Struble (who is not a mediocre prospect), and a few others. Fleury is clearly not an upgrade on Mete and they need to make space for Romanov. I don't see them giving a top asset unless they receive a needed one. Skjei is a fine second pairing D, but he is not suddenly worth more, like a ticket for Lafreniere. You even ask them to take two players needing protection in the expansion draft next year while getting three exempt. You also ask them to trade a first round pick while the draft is in Montreal. Many reasons make it a uninteresting move for Mtl.

Marner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MitchMarnerElite </b></div><div>I agree that Domi is a great player with elite potential, but I think you are undervaluing the package Colorado is giving. Compher is a really good defensive Forward. Even though Zadorov is dirty, he’s still a very solid defenseman. Especially with Romanov coming up you’d have one of the best defensive cores in the league.</div></div>
Is Zadorov the player they need? He has a similar style (or role) as Chiarot and Romanov on the left side. Even Mete tends to play a safe and solid game. I think that they'd prefer a more attacking D. They already have depth at forward, but they need more high end skills. Domi provides somewhat that, in the Habs context. Plus, with the expansion draft next year, I'm not sure that it's a wise idea to bring more players to protect. In a vacuum, I think that the proposal is fair, but in their context, it doesn't help them much. Unless a team propose a young LHD with powerplay/attacking/puck moving abilities in a 1v1 trade, they should keep Domi.

I think that Canes should target Barrie from Toronto if he is made available. Carolina needs a top4 rd only this season, until Hamilton is back. He could be cheaper than Petry and the leafs could then use those assets for a more complete dman.
