Sorry, not sorry. Gibson will go anywhere he has to if it means leaving a bad situation.
Dvorak has a year term and Henrique is UFA. Dvorak is inconsequential to the deal, he doesnt need to be part of it, many teams value that kind of player at that cap hit and term. Anaheim could easily flip him otherwise the Habs will! As they flipped DeSmith, Petry, etc. If your GM cant do the same, i'd be worried. The best thing Anaheim can do is move on from Gibson.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Andy_Dick</b></div><div>Cap space is a thing for most teams. Saying <strong>bUt nO cAp</strong> isnt an excuse when the whole league is dealing with a hard cap.
Its the same lazy excuse Ken Holland continually makes while Oilers fans seethe that so called no cap space teams like the Lightning and Knights continually make moves in the offseason and at the TDL meanwhile Holland does nothing at all and claims you cant get players for free like his post presser during the Keith deal! Its a lack of imagination and downright ignorance.
Yes, I appreciate your insight, you are the only one in this thread that isnt a sociopath that gaslights. So I'll answer your points, seriously. Not sure how you think Im supposed to answer these other responses that give youtube commenters pause for lack of tact and substance.
As far as your points. Peeke is a major hurdle to move with term 2.75AAV in the next two years at a minimum you are paying a depth forward like Texier (CBJ top 6 not the Oilers) and a 2nd round pick YET I am adding the Oilers top prospect on defence in Broberg whom many see as a top4 solution going forward. The left side of CBJ defence clearly isnt settled when you have players like Provorov acquired despite the many prospects in the system in CBJ because let's face it not every prospect will become a long term solution in Columbus and that goes for the forwards as well like a Brindley that I have here signed but he's not ready to contribute as a 5'9" two way forward, these guys take awhile to develop without elite skill to make plays. The NHL is the best league in the world where guys like Jack Hughes struggle their first few seasons to make space for themselves and get comfortable. If anything i was generous in this deal towards CBJ. The Oilers would be hard pressed to add cap here with Peeke when Broberg doesnt even have arbitration rights for another 2 years and they have to add Texier who wouldnt have a spot when the Oilers have to waive top picks like Raphael Lavoie to start the year as their cap is far more tenuous than Columbus.
<p>With McDavid’s non-LTIR injury, the Oilers are carrying the bare minimum 18 skaters and two goaltenders. They have no cap space to call up anyone from the minors.</p>— Daniel Nugent-Bowman (DNBsports) <a href="https://twitter.com/DNBsports/status/1716228334794027138?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">October 22, 2023</a>
If you dont like the deal that is fine but calling it a troll among other nonsense is just a fundamental lack of understanding how compromise works in the league.</div></div>
I see planning for future expenditures to be pragmatic and logical, not lazy or unimaginative and certainly not ignorant. If you'd rather have Zucker for three years to sign everyone to cheap bridges and then have to overpay in three years from now, that's your prerogative, but locking up young talent is a method than many GMs have taken over the years and seems to be preferred when it's possible.
So Texier is not worthy of being considered a top-6 forward in your mind, but Broberg is a top-4 defensman when you signed him to a 2x1.25mil deal? Not sure I understand your logic there. Texier is heading towards likely earning between a 3-5mil AAV on his next deal.
The defense is absolutely fine for the next two years. The play in the dzone is night and day from last year with a healthy Werenski and the additions of Provorov, Severson and Jiricek. Mateychuck also nearly made the team this year and looks like he's going to be a very good NHL defenseman. He has easily has shown more promise than Broberg IMO. The team could always try to re-sign Provorov too, but the consensus among knowledgeable CBJ followers is that it's fine for him to scat in two years because Mateychuck and Svozil both look very close to being ready.
CBJ are definitely not counting on Brindley making the team, let alone being a contributor in the next two years. They already have enough NHL forwards, plus Dumais almost made the team this year, Chinakhov has looked good when healthy, and Voronkov is pushing for playing time right now too. Zucker makes no sense when they have Gaudreau, Laine, Johnson and Marchenko as top-6 forwards, plus Texier who is skilled and versatile enough to play all through the lineup.
Yes, it's the best league in the world, that is why Jarmo brough in Provorov and Severson, so that their young dmen wouldn't have to struggle as 19-year-olds in the NHL. Mateychuck, Svozil and Dumais all could have made the roster this year and taken their lumps in the NHL, but it's better for them to continue to develop on the long road so they will be more physically prepared to step in in another year or two.
I definitely don't like the deal. You can say whatever you want about the players' values, but your take doesn't come across as objective or informed at all. It sounds like a EDM fan over-valuing your players. That's fine. CBJ would very quickly decline - and that is not a "complaint". I never called it a troll, but it is definitely a one-sided proposal.

I don't think they are complaints. This is a site where dialogue is encouraged. We discuss the posts to share our opinions and hopefully grow our knowledge and understanding of the game.
Cap space is absolutely an issue in the coming years for Columbus with the need to re-sign Johnson, Marchenko, Sillinger, Texier, Jiricek, Fantilli and also possibly Chinakhov, Blankenburg and others. Some of those deals could end up being substantial long-term contracts in order to save money down the road. Many see KJ and Marchenko getting 7 and 5/6 year big(ger) money extensions.

Zucker is a nice player, but I don't see CBJ adding a veteran winger when they have so many promising candidates in their system to fill one opening on the roster. Gaudreau, Laine, KJ, Marchenko, Texier, Jenner could all be wings next year with Fantilli, Sillinger Vronk and Kuraly down the middle. They also have Chinakhov and Dumais pushing for a middle-6 wing spot, plus will be adding Brindley to the mix before long.</div></div>
Careful. This is a no logic zone. People making sense in this thread are blowhards that do nothing but complain according to OP. :tearsofjoy

Last I checked the trade I made gives them more cap flexibility and the one, i repeat, the one free agent signing that was made is less than the money coming off the books like Gudbransson, Jenner, Laine.
Oh yes, I already see the short sighted rebuttal you have to resign them too no matter what and this despite all these cant miss prospects you have coming up. Here I'll speak in a condescending tone like a CBJ fan in this thread..You know the roster size has a limit of 23 players, right?
Just so many great forwards that are guarantees in Columbus, right? You CBJ fans are such blowhards. None of your prospects are guarantees otherwise they wouldnt have signed/trade for Severson and Provorov in the offseason. The mental gymnastics to prove your points are laughable and not worth even debating. I could trade for McDavid and you'd complain about the cap space and the fact you cant let go of a prized prospect like Kent Johnson for McDavid because of value, window, blah, blah, complain, complain.</div></div>

It's not about saving money. It's about having cap space if those guys earn significant, long-term extensions. You don't put your cap situation at risk to sign old, ineffective players that don't fit your compete window. I'm sorry that obvious logic escapes you.
If you put half a thought into your posts you wouldn't be confronted with simple questions that you don't have answers for.

Why does Texier's career need a revival elsewhere? He has been playing well in a top 6 role in Columbus after returning from Europe.
Why does Columbus trade for another LD when they currently have Werenski, Provorov and Bean all playing well in the NHL and then Svozil and Mateychuk on the near horizon?
Why would they sign Zucker to a 3x$6M contract when they have Fantilli and Jiricek negotiations coming up?
Did you consider the Jackets' needs whatsoever before making this proposal?

Not even a remote chance that the Jackets entertain trading Marchenko for pieces. He's a part of the contention window they're building towards and none of those players coming back or the picks have any chance of helping the team on the timeline they're on.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockey_Soul</b></div><div>Moving Roslovic is addition by subtraction. He doesn't work, his focus drifts, and he misses defensive coverages regularly. Joseph is overpaid for a 4th liner, but at least he has a good work ethic and more skill than Olivier, which I think would improve this 4th line.
I think Ros would screw up the 4th line. No one would claim his salary, and CBJ ownership aren't going to pay him $4m to play in Cleveland.</div></div>
Joseph's deal has three years left, though. One major plus to Roslovic is that he doesn't. If we're doing that, the pick has to be much higher than a fourth for the opportunity cost of either having to move Joseph in the future or being stuck with a 3 million dollar fourth liner as they're entering their actual competitive window in 2024-25.

I'm in favor of the trade simply because Lindholm is better than either player right now, but I don't know that I like the extension. I get that six years probably requires a higher AAV but I am very leery of 9.5 to Lindholm when we're looking at having to pay Johnson and Fantilli a lot of money during that term period, and probably Jiricek too (I could see Marchenko being moved in a goalie deal, for example).

I'm going to need to see more of both of them, but just from what I saw in person on Sunday, Mateychuk is going to make the decision hard on the team. Yes, he's going back to Moose Jaw, obviously. But he's going to make the choice hard. Since there's no clause saying NHL or bust for Jiricek, he's headed to the AHL to start for sure. Even Gudbranson didn't look bad and at times looked good in that first game. I'm personally ready to move on from Peeke and Boqvist both.

I was there last night. Yes, tehy scored that grimy goal early, but Texier didn't really look comfortable til the second and third. They were humming by the end of the game. I hope Vincent keeps the three of them together.
My other observation is that Mateychuk is going to make it very hard for them to send him back to Moose Jaw. He was probably the best defenseman on the ice last night, including Werenski. Also caught a few flashes of Severson's passing ability that made me think, "Ah, yep, I get it now."
