Jiricek and Mateychuk both making the team

Description
Arizona has a ton of picks and could use some good young defensemen with no clear top pair guys. Boq could become that and thrive in a top role. A 2nd is selling low on him, but CBJ will continue to lose leverage if the young guys continue show they deserve those spots and CBJ are left with too many dmen on 1-way deals.

Wouldn't be selling low enough for my interest. Hurt too often, eggs scrambled, and has always been a question mark in his own zone. He can still turn it around, but the clock is ticking, and I'd rather keep the pick.
They also just gave up a second for Durzi, who is a similar player without the injuries, which makes if even less likely. AZ needs a steady guy who can eat minutes. Which isn't really Boqvist.

Jiricek isn't going to make the team. He has not looked great in any games (Traverse City Prospect Tournament / Preseason games) so far. He needs to clean up his defensive side of the game and some decision making.

I'm going to need to see more of both of them, but just from what I saw in person on Sunday, Mateychuk is going to make the decision hard on the team. Yes, he's going back to Moose Jaw, obviously. But he's going to make the choice hard. Since there's no clause saying NHL or bust for Jiricek, he's headed to the AHL to start for sure. Even Gudbranson didn't look bad and at times looked good in that first game. I'm personally ready to move on from Peeke and Boqvist both.

At this point I would only keep Boqvist for a PP specialist but it seems we are determined to keep Z the QB so I don't see a role for him. At this point I am sure you could possibly get a 2nd for him since he's cost controlled but Jarmo's going to have to eat this one because I see both Boqvist and Bean going out the door soon as Mateychuck is making that 3LHD position very hard to send back down especially if he does play 9 games.

Z is definitely the guy on PP1, and I think Jiricek or Mateychuk could do the job on the second unit.

There are always teams looking for defense, and guys with Boqvists offensive skills are generally coveted, but he is redundant on this team and doesn't have a clear role. I think the time to trade him is now, but Jarmo may not have any buyers willing to give up what he wants - likely a 1st or potentially high 2nd.

Both looked pretty damn good on Saturday again, against a mostly NHL lineup from Buffalo. That drive and assist from Jiricek on Laine's goal was extremely impressive.

What was especially encouraging about Jiricek that game was I didn't notice any moments where he was caught flat-footed or got walked. He's still an awkward skater, but he looked better in his boots this time around. I'll be curious to see how he looks tonight since he'll probably be paired with Provorov (who looked terrible in his first game on Saturday).
