I think necas, a first, and someone like Drury/Fast might be enough to grab ehlers and rutger. Especially if ehlers doesn't come with an extension.

You gotta watch his highlights from last year. Dude was phenomenal. He's big, great on faceoff, defense, and surprisingly quick. I think he could grab 50 points on our team and end with a +15.

It's genius is what it is. Watched the yotes all last season and maccelli is basically a mini-necas. Fast, incredible passer and a sniper. Bjugs is insanely underrated as a center. Basically a Jordan staal type but he can actually shoot the puck.
They would probably want another player over honka, but I couldn't think of anything. Maybe kk or fast could go to them.
I'd also take a schmaltz, but I doubt they'd drop him.

Eh I disagree. I think NHL scouts wouldnt be as hard on kk as fans are. He's 23, big, physical, decent on the faceoff. Has scored 12-18 goals with minimal ice time. He creates a ton of chances around the net, canes are just bad at finishing. I think his ceiling is higher than pospisil and they have the cap space to test him for a year to see if he can step up. Plus a cheap orlov? Cmonnnn

Dont think any of those trades would happen, but I like your thought process. I really like ehlers and carrier. I also like the idea of a goalie upgrade. Only other change would probably be to trade/buyout KK or Kuzy to get a legit 2c like Stephenson or Monahan.

Thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KrakenTheCode</b></div><div>I don't think this trade really works from Seattle's perspective. McCann and Nečas aren't quite the same type of player, but their offensive production is similar and in my mind they hold roughly equal value at the moment. For a Kraken team looking to add scoring, swapping out their leading scorer only to bring in a comparable player in that department is a lateral move that doesn't really help the team. Throw in the Gourde for Kotkaniemi swap that on its own would be a loss for Seattle, and this trade doesn't make much sense for the Kraken.</div></div>
Don't see any reason to buyout Kuzy. If we wanted to unload him, somebody would take him at 3.9. No shot jarvis signs a bridge less than 5m and will most likely get long term at 6.8-7.2mil.
Don't see that trade happening from kraken side, but I also don't really see any teams willing to trade a "star player" in return. I think we need to get over that and be willing to trade him for 2 solid depth options to fill a roster next year.
I like picking up a cheap veteran LD to play with morrow next year.

yeah I didn't realize he was so young after I did the deal. Canes might be stuck with freddie again or have to trade him for a 4th and pick someone off the UFA

ehlers on canes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vikhodush</b></div><div>Let me put it another way since you’re having trouble understanding.
The canes can fit in guentzel at 8x8.5-9.25 this year. It’s not an if, it’s they can if they choose to go away from their strategy of handing out max term deals to 30 years olds. If Guentzel doesn’t extend here it’s not bc they can’t afford the extension due to cap constraints this year, it’s bc they aren’t willing to pay that much to a 30 year old on a max term deal.
Ehlers is a worse player than Guentzel. He’s a good player, but he’s not on Guentzel level. He’ll also be 30+ when his extension kicks in next summer. If the canes aren’t willing to break their rule for Guentzel, they certainly won’t for a lesser player. Which means Ehlers is going to want to go to UFA bc another team is going to give him a max term deal that the canes wouldn’t.
Your main point is that the canes can’t find the extra 2.5-3m for this year to keep Guentzel versus Ehlers while
Remaining competitive which just seems silly. A KK buyout alone literally solves that. There’s a myriad of creative solutions to make guentzel at his cap hit work over somebody like Ehlers without really impacting the depth of the team, and that’s not even taking into account Guentzel making the top end of the team better than Ehlers.</div></div>
There is no "rule". I don't even know where you are getting that. We probably already sent Guentzel an offer for 8x8 and he said wanted to test the market. He is GONE and it has nothing to do with a "rule". There's just an upper limit of how much you can lean on one guy and he probably wants to live somewhere nice. I'm not saying its impossible, it just makes a big difference. you can run this roster without having to buyout anyone, and you still have the flexibility of buying out KK if you want and go grab another good player for 5-6mil. Or trade kuzy or Orlov with retention and do the same thing. Keep in mind this roster has no tuevo, skjei, pesce, noesen, a cheap LD, and some savings from the goalie change... It's hard to find another 3 mil on top of all that unless you want to rip up the whole thing and start over.

ehlers on canes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vikhodush</b></div><div>You didn’t answer the main question. If the canes aren’t willing to pay Guentzel 8x9 or whatever it takes, they’re not going to pay Ehlers 8x8 next year. Same age, not as good of a player. If canes aren’t paying Guentzel on a max deal they won’t do the same for Ehlers.
They can make it work with Guentzel this year just like they could with Ehlers next year from a cap perspective. Doesn’t mean they will based on how they operate. If you’re looking for a Necas trade it shouldn’t be centered around a 30 year old player with a year left who will likely extend elsewhere.</div></div>
My man I really don't know what to tell you if this doesn't make sense. We are cap limited this year because we can't just trade away all our bad contracts. Orlov, kuzy, burns are eating up like 18mil in cap space. Morrow and nikishin will be free money in 2026. Signing guentzel to 9mil would be tossing this year. That 3mil makes a huge difference in depth. I imagine the trade would only happen with the agreement of an extension.

yeah fans can be a bit too partial to their special boys. KK is in a rough spot, but he's not nearly as bad as we make him look. I think he would do more in a conventional offense system and a team looking to fill cap space with young talent might be interested

I'd love to do this from the canes side, but it seems unlikely they would let schmaltz go as he's a really good deal for them. I wonder if Utah would be interested in KK since they have so much cap space and could handle the risk.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>They'd probably look for a player that fills a need first, like a top 4 RHD or 2C with term or team control. Making a lateral move for a player with arb rights that is looking for a large raise, isn't something that Jets management usually targets.
Not to mention that Winnipeg would also need some pretty hefty compensation for taking Andersen as a cap dump in the above scenario, which isn't offered.</div></div>
Ok ok, if you think andersen is a cap dump, and youd rather have a RHD then necas, then I'm not talking to a real human. Good luck lol
