Edmonton says no.. Yamamoto is better than both those players. And we have cap issues…. So not adding an expensive player, even if you retain a tiny bit

Don’t think so, he’s not that good and Puljujarvi is a 4th overall. He just doesn’t get along here. No one will pass him the puck.

Yeah…. Made this line up before the game. Gibson may not be that bad all the time, Eakins is the coach so he might just be target practice. He let in 6 but it could have been 10-12 with as many chances the oilers were getting. Eakins ruined Dubnyk , destroyed his confidence so bad he was almost out of the game

Jonathan Druin And Joel Edmunson Apparently
Hans could flip Barrie for a first rounder but Edmonton has more use for Barrie than other teams. He’s been good here. I would rather give up Yamamoto, puljujarvi or Foegele, edmunson would be good. Not interested in Drouin

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>EDM has expressed interest in Lafferty, we know this. He is fast, cheap, and a reliable bottom six forward that probably still has some more upside to give, in the right situation. The idea here is for EDM to create cap space and bring in better defensive players But, in this case, I don't care about EDM.
The problem with the proposed trade is CHI has absolutely zero interest in Barrie or the task of MAYBE flipping him. We are rebuilding and he is too old to be part of the future, he takes up roster space, and doesn't add anything to our team that we need in the short term either. If EDM needs to move him, but they can't find any takers, that means they will have to pay us to take him, because we don't want him.</div></div>
I agree, You have no need of him and we do. it would be pretty hard to replace him for his salary. I don’t really understand what Lafferty brings that’s significantly better than our bottom 6. If we salary dump, it has to be Foegele, puljujarvi or Yamamoto. We could get way more for Barrie, Chicago could flip for profit. He’s worth a 1st rounder at the deadline easy. Especially if you could retain half his salary He’s playing the best hockey of his career

This is silly, how does this make the oilers better. Kulak is as nearly good as Gavrikov so that trade doesn’t make us better. I could accept the puljujarvi trade but mostly because he has already expressed interest in leaving the nhl and going back to Europe. We could use the cap dump to go for a real player

The trade doesn’t make Edmonton better either. Barrie has been well worth his contract and is our 3rd or 4th best Dman. Issue is Broberg and other prospects have not progressed. Oilers need a top 2 Left dman to push others down the list. A bottom 6 forward isn’t going to make much difference unless he is a spectacular 3C,

Barrie overall has been as good as or better than Gavrikov. I like the Gavrikov trade idea. But keeping Broberg over Barrie is not making us better, even worse if you’re making him play off wing side. Your team would be better Without your Barrie trade

None of these trades make sense except Soucy. The rest of it is just a lot of crap. Trading a ton of prospects just to trade down from Archibald to Larson just because of vaccine status…. That’s so dumb. This doesn’t really make the team better

Why would Edmonton trade Archibald? He’s the hardest worker on the team. Our depth is pushing him down to the 4th line which is pretty good for us. He’s a great PK guy and averages 15 5v5 goals a year in bottom 6 roles. And will lead our team in hits…. Trading him because he’s antivax is just stupid. Lou would not let that influence him either, especially because antivax can fly within the USA, so he would only miss a few Canadian games

Defence improves enough through goaltending and coaching
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JackAce91</b></div><div>Horrible. For starters, Vegas, Capitals, Oilers, Stars, Avalanche all have reason to go after Fleury. All but Stars are rumored to be interested. So there is definitely more demand than your trade is suggesting. So there will absolutely be at least a first thrown in, while the second may very well just be the price to take Koskinen. Another 2nd for that much retainment, if not more.</div></div>
Vegas, avalanche have no picks and no salary room, significant salary players would have to go back, even if Chicago retains, Washington has a first round pick, but again no cap space, not even enough for half his salary. So again, they have to take good players the other way.
There just isn’t that much market for fleury

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NickC1988</b></div><div>I mean, Chicago is giving up a top 6 F and a starting goalie for two cap dumps and a 2nd...</div></div>
Gustafson is an 800k/ year 3rd pair Dman and Fleury a starting goalie that they picked up for a 3rd round pick last year. And they get a defenceman that can put up points on a decent contract with some term. And there’s a chance that the pick turns into a 1st round pick if the oilers go deep in the playoffs and Keith plays, Barrie is clearly better than Gustafson at the same position, so a better dman swap, and a second round pick for a downgrade in goal

Free agents don’t come off the books until the season is done. They have to shed 10 mil just for Eichel that is already signed, then another 5 for Kane…. Mid-season?

Our goalies have been horrible and we went through insane defensive injury issues. Then covid.. A great goalie like fleury would have stopped at least 15-20 of the 35-40 weak goals our current guys let in. That alone would have oilers in the top 7-8 teams. Our coach has been top loading the top two lines, it shows in the bottom 6 production.. Another top winger could push RNH to the 3C . We would have enough wingers to roll 3 scoring lines. Kane would push Kassian/McLeod out of top 9. I was also counting on Holloway as well, but he’s a long shot. Whoever gets pushed off the team is someone who would score 15-25 less goals in a year. That’s huge

Knights have major salary issues with Eichel soon. They need to shed a ton to give him 5 mil. And he’s not worth 5mil. 3 mil is a little high given the circumstances
