Maybe they should have followed up with Hockey Canada and made the public aware of the investigation when Sport Canada found out about it in June 2018?

Team Canada Scandal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeterChiarelli</b></div><div>What this example fails to address is that there is a population of unknown size within the player base of Hockey Canada that has either committed an assault, knows something about an assault, or has helped cover up an assault. The organization of Hockey Canada itself is not the only party likely guilty in this case. If more and more people came forward with accusations towards the players of other junior teams, would you feel the same towards the players as a single entity?
An even larger part of that player base is part of the culture issue that also needs to be addressed in some manner, probably after verdicts have been reached.
I'm not hell bent on ruining international hockey for Canada but if the foundations of the driving organization behind those players and those tournaments is so morally corrupt then things secondary in importance to justice need to step back and wait their turn. A game does not take precedence over human wellbeing.</div></div>
Well if you want a change you can start by holding the government accountable because what in the heck have they done? Punishing hockey players who had nothing to do with this is beyond stupid. The useless “leaders” in Ottawa should be taking charge.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GeoZei</b></div><div>You want to win the cup but you don’t want to throw away the future to do it especially when we don’t have to. Our offence isn’t what made it so we didn’t win the cup.</div></div>
Teams trade picks and prospects all the time to acquire talent to win now. How many first rounders has Pittsburgh drafted in a decade? I think it’s 3. Yes they’re about to pay for it but they got 3 cups out of their core.

We want a top 10 prospect and a high first, if you can’t offer that we won’t be trading Meier to you, no matter how much stuff you throw at the deal</div></div>
Alexander Holtz is not a top 10 prospect. He’s not even the Devils best prospect. He’s third behind Hughes and Nemec. Bourgault and Holtz are a coin flip as far as prospects go, both are easily top 50 and probably top 25. They aren’t top 10. Teams really don’t trade top 10 prospects.

That is such a ridiculous trade. If the oilers were not so strong up front he would probably be playing NHL minutes this year.</div></div>
The goal is to win a cup, not worry about 3 years from now

If Hextall is done
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hullsy09</b></div><div>Yeah Crosby is 35 and point is 26, but Crosby is still miles better than point. Did you watch the first round? Crosby was the most dominant player on the ice every time he stepped on.
Letang was like 7th in Norris voting last year.
Malkin put up a 40+ goal, 80+ point pace coming off of a major surgery with scrubs for linemates.
Petry put up 21 points in 30 games once MSL took over.
These guys can still play. The rest of the core is still young enough where age is no concern in the short term: guentzel, Jarry, rust, rakell.
So I ask you, instead of re-signing Malkin and Letang, and trading for Petry. Should we have acquired younger and worse players? Sure these guys may be awful in 3 years but they were the best options in the short term - and that is this teams goal. Short term success.</div></div>
How does Mike Sullivan coach his team? How do the Pens play the game? This isn’t the 2008 Red Wings under Babcock who played a perfect game for older players. Your time is built entirely off of skating. Unless there’s going to be a major change to how the team approaches the season they’ll be gased

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hullsy09</b></div><div>It’s not a fact lol. It’s impossible to know who’s going to win the cup. Just because a team is old doesn’t mean they have no chance.
Tampa was the 2nd oldest team last year and they almost three-peated.</div></div>
Tampa has Point at 26, Vas at 27, Sergachev at 24, Cernak 25, Cirelli 25, and Kuch at 29. Hedman and Stamkos are the old guys in that core of players but they’re 32 and 31. Crosby is 35. Malkin 36. Letang 35. Petry is 35. Where’s your core? Guentzel is in his prime and so is Jarry but who else? Rust and Rakell are still within that scope of prime years I suppose but at the back end of them. You see this isn’t the same thing now?
