After Vegas Overpays because you know they will
How do you expect vegas’ cap to work? They already traded pacioretty, dadonov, and fluery for pennys on the dollar. None of those players offered count against the cap so a package like this is completely unrealistic. Maybe tkachuk for eichel and picks even out the value

Realistically the canes aren’t matching an offersheet similar to KKs. The starting price is a first and a third

Nope 34 players for one. Each player is roughly 1/34th a tkachuk so it must be fair

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>squashmaple</b></div><div>Are we talking this coming season or overall pool? I am not seeing where you’re making the distinction. Overall pool, there’s no question at all Kent Johnson is Columbus’s top prospect, but with his slight frame I don’t see him threatening for the Calder this coming year. I agree with dk that Columbus’s most likely candidate for any kind of rookie awards is Marchenko, keeping with the trend of mid-20s Russians coming over after success in the KHL. Also, Jiricek is two years out at the earliest.</div></div>
It’s based on where their floor is and where their ceiling is. That’s why a guy like Sanderson is above slafkovsky. The floor is much higher and it results in a higher average position. Johnson’s ceiling I see as the highest among the Columbus prospects and his floor is lower than a guy like Jiricek imo. Columbus comes down to Johnson and jiricek and I personally see jiriceks median career path being higher than the median of a guy like Johnson.

Getting that is nicer than the kraken just OS him for 4.2m. “Oh offer sheets don’t happen you have been saying it about the leafs forever”. Eventually one is going to happen and I see it being this year as either sandin leaves for a second rounder or the leafs are even more screwed for the next few years. Pick your poison. Also not to mention Morgan Reilly is the 1LD for the future so unless sandin is moved, he won’t be that top d man you say he is because he is stuck behind Reilly for the majority of the development of his career.

Personally I give the edge to yurov. I predict he is looked back as a top 5 prospect in this draft. Tbh Minnesota has the best prospect pool now for how good it is at the top and how you have 6 guys competing for a 3 spot which 4 teams best prospect wouldn’t even compete for. Only other team that can say something like this is Buffalo and they aren’t as deep as the wild so that’s why they r my two

It really is a tossup. IMO rossi is higher but Wally has a strong argument for best goalie prospect in the NHL. Wallstedt and askarov are the top two with cossa as a 3 and then the floodgates are open to the rest of the league.

Ranking every teams top prospect volume 1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dk325</b></div><div>CBJ's top prospect going into this season is Marchenko imo. He's their most likely guy to compete for the Calder. Johnson or Jiricek may have him beat in long term potential, but Marchenko is a 22 year old, 6'3, 190 lb Russian RW coming over from 3 years of success in the KHL. He's experienced playing among men while Johnson and Jiricek are still trying to build NHL ready bodies. Marchenko is also staying through the summer to train in Columbus so he's doing everything he can to get used to the NHL ice now. Pretty excited to see what he can do this year.</div></div>
Although I like marchenko and I believe he has a higher floor than jiricek or Johnson, the ceiling of those two is much higher. Marchenko played well against men with 48 pts in 80 KHL games. Personally I think he is the most NHL ready prospect but not the best prospect in the jackets pool. I see him as similar to a jack drury for the canes. Obviously one played in the A and the other played in the K last season but the point of the argument is both are the most NHL prospects in their pools but not the best prospects in their respective pools. The ceilings of their peers being higher makes them lower even tho they are the most NHL ready. He is definitely a dark horse Calder candidate tho

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bagelbob</b></div><div>i think he might start in the nhl tbh, with dadonov and pacioretty both gone it feels like the path is there for him to do so. bordeleau is such a weird one, his freshman year he was really driving play and looked honestly like the best one of all of them, but this year they stuck him in random spots down the lineup and he wasn't as game changing although he was still very good. i would personally put him (and raty and knies) up above howard, but it's ur list and who really knows lol</div></div>
This is just a very rough first draft. I am open to changing the list plenty of times and this feedback will be used in the 2nd installment in this series after I get more feedback from other fans

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>I sure hope that you're right about Mason McTavish. When we took him over Luke Hughes I was appalled, and that was BEFORE last season at Michigan. Speaking of Hughes, imagine having as your two best prospects two potential future Norris Trophy candidates.</div></div>
I think he is going to be good. Nemec and hughes I have as literally the same so if I were to have hughes instead he would be in the same slot as nemec. Mctavish was seen as a reach at the time but I have liked his play in the NHL play and he performed decently at the OHL level again showing improvement from last year. Mctavish has a case to be even higher on this list and a case to be lower as well. I think his ceiling is a low end 1st line center high end second line center but I see his floor as possibly the highest on this list. The floor being so high is why I have him so high personally.

I had Holloway originally but I wasn’t wowed with his AHL stats at all. Not nearly on par with other guys who played in the A on this list like Pelletier. He’s coming off a down year but since you are the oilers fan I’ll take your word at it. I don’t see it changing the ranking too much tbh. Maybe a slot up or a slot below.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bagelbob</b></div><div>brendan brisson was nasty at michigan and played well in the AHL to end the year, i think you have him too low.</div></div>
His numbers are very good in a vacuum for sure. I would say the one thing that knocks him to how low he is is the fact he was primarily playing with guys like beniers, bordeleau, and Johnson. I see him as the 3rd best guy above bordeleau personally. Michigan is a powerhouse and that’s what knocks him down a notch personally because he is playing with plenty of future stars. 4 top 5 draft picks will do that. I obviously think he will be very good and am willing to move him up to somewhere between above knies or below raty. Good stats but inflated at that. Could definitely see him move up playing with less talent this year either in the A or if decides to go back to NCAA
