<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hurricanes73</b></div><div>Anyways this is an awful tarasenko trade. You are gonna get flamed for this</div></div>
My rationale is that if St. Louis wants Tkachuk they'd have to move out ~9million in cap which will likely come in the form of them shipping out a defenseman and a forward. It's not easy to move out money so Tarasenko's value with just one year left on a contract likely isn't as high as it would be with more term left. Carolina just traded for 7million of Pacioretty and 762.5k of Coghlan for basically nothing so I'd say the return that St. Louis is getting is reasonable, especially considering draft picks are becoming more coveted. What assets would you trade away instead of the proposed trade?

LEAFS POWERHOUSE PROMOTES SUPER PROSPECTS KNIES NIEMELA AND ROBERTSON TO WIN CUP
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TML_Tika</b></div><div>The Leafs have upgraded their bottom 6 this offseason by signing players who play much harder ........so I do not think it is only a 2 line team.
How can you say Matt Murray who has backstopped a team to 2 cups as a goalie and Samsonov who was Washington's top goalie is shaking goaltending.......You need to stop listening to the Toronto Media who are actually clueless.
How can you also say the Leafs defence is shaky when the Leafs Top 6 Defenceman are better than almost every other team in the NHL.........Again you are listening to the Toronto Media too much and not being objective.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Buffalove</b></div><div>I don’t listen to the Toronto media at all
Samsonov was so bad that the Caps didn’t even qualify him
And Murray was sent to the AHL last year- he’s not the Cup winning goalie from YEARS AGO, he blows
Idk wtf Dubas was thinking
And yes, it’s still a 2 line team
Nice that your bottom6 will play harder, but that doesn’t mean they’ll produce. They lack the skill to do so consistently
U do have some talent on defense, but for whatever reason it just doesn’t work all that well- not in the playoffs anyways
And i said the goaltending was shaky, and the defense wasn’t good enough to get u out of the 1st round
And my comment about the defense was accurate & inarguable (since u keep losing in the 1st round)
I get it, you’re a “homer” who’s being optimistic
But u guys did not get better this offseason</div></div>
Dubas took a gamble with both Goalies. Like he did with Bunting, Ritchie and Kaše last offseason. Ondřej is a good comparison, because of his injury history. If Murray will stay healthy, he should be better than Campbell. I love Soup, but despite his Vezina caliber Season Start, he has not had a really good year. Only because Vazi had a medium 1st round, he looked ok with his SV% in the Playoffs. Mrázek had by far his worst Season. There was a point 20/21 when he played for Carolina, where Campbell and Mrázek led the league in almost every category. Could have been the best Goalie tandem by far. Was not obviously. Not close. Same with Murray / Samsonov. Great potential. Maybe they kill it. Maybe we see Woll / Källgren in december. YOU DON´T KNOW YET.

Reported Rejected Trades For Tkachuk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hurricanes73</b></div><div>Tuch was a year older than eichel. Saad is 5 years older than tkachuk and put up half his points. For comparison, tuch but up .2 less PPG in his final season with vegas before the eichel trade. An ideal return for tkachuk based on the eichel trade is a player one year older than him that puts up 1.05 PPG because tkachuk had a 1.25ppg season. Kyrou is one year younger and had slightly less production than the ideal 1.05 in 1.02 PPG. That’s a solid return based on the eichel trade. Now throw in bolduc and a first and a second and you’re set. Yes I said bolduc because he was the 17th pick in a more recent draft aka what krebs was for vegas. Throw in the first and second and now you have a trade that actually mimics the eichel trade.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>A_K</b></div><div>Ok, but if you're mirroring the Eichel trade you're talking about Saad + Neighbours + 1st + 2nd. There was no player in the Eichel package that scored at a better rate than Eichel (look up Kyrou's first 3 seasons vs Tkachuk's). Vegas didn't have to give up a core player IMO.</div></div>
Tkachuk is going to return a hell of a lot more than Eichel did. He's 24, not coming off major neck surgery, and is going to be moved in the off-season when other teams can create space still. Oh and he's better....

LEAFS SIGN KESSEL AND PK SUBBAN TO BRING HOME A CUP
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hurricanes73</b></div><div>How tf would I be buying into the Toronto media? I literally do not follow any leafs fans other than Steve dangle. Here’s what I have been saying over and over again. The leafs have no depth and a 5 man team isn’t winning a cup. Their poor bottom 6 got actively exploited when playing top 5 teams. They were sub 500 against the 4 division winners and the bolts. They went 9-10. That’s over 200 points lower than their regular season percentage. Being a deep team is how you win a cup. You may be better on the top end but as long as the other teams top lines produce the same, the bottom 6 is what claps your cheeks. There is a reason why a team with a player over the caphit of 10m hasn’t won a cup yet, because one player can’t single handedly carry a team to victory. Having three of those players means you are taking away from getting better players on the bottom end. Not to mention how much worse the goal tending got. You may say “the Avs won with mediocre goaltending” or “the canes won the Jennings after bringing in two new goalies”: my rebuttals- both teams have top 5 defenses. The leafs are far from it. Some of the leafs middle pair D men would be either extra D men, or bottom pair. Top pair D men would both be middle pair on those teams. The talent is there at the top but when you have a huge question mark as to who will be your final top 6 forward I see an issue. Carolina has 7/8 top 6 forwards. Colorado had 7/8 as well. 4 top line forwards and 5 top 6 forwards isn’t what wins cups, it’s what leads to disappointment. And the leafs getting worse this offseason, I honestly think they are lucky to get a wild card spot with how much better other teams got. Tampa and Florida obviously go 1-2. Ottawa Detroit and Boston all have cases for being better teams than Toronto right now, honest to god. I see it falling out TB,FLA,OTT,TOR,DET,BOS,BUF,MTL. And that’s being generous too as every team other than Buffalo and montreal has better goaltending. If the leafs kept campbell I see them being that third team, but they didn’t and they got worse. They also lost soup man too who was easily the best forward outside of of the top 5. Now you have to shake kerfoots contract to stay cap compliant. That’s the top 2 forwards from last year outside of the top 5 leaving. Kase leaving as well means that by PPG, the 6th, 7th and 8th best forwards on the leafs will all be gone. That’s atrocious. Essentially losing your entire third line which was already a team that wasn’t that deep. The defense didn’t get better, neither did the offense or goaltending. And the forward corps will be a whole lot worse. Every other team in the Atlantic got better other than Boston and Florida. Florida still clears Toronto easily. Ottawa and Detroit both getting that much better this off-season means there is a very strong case for Toronto missing the playoffs all together. So as an outsider, who does not even follow the Toronto media, who forms their own views based on moves, Toronto got much worse and is a wild card team at best. You may disagree as you are a leafs fan, but this is my opinion. If you are right I will eat my words but till then my view is this and unless the leafs make serious changes to be deeper, I will not be changing my viewpoint. Thank you.</div></div>
You have made some good points but I expect Florida to fall back this year as they have lost some good players this offseason and last year they over-achieved.........I also think Boston is going to have a really tough time with all the players they currently have injured to start the season and their ageing core
You keep saying the Leafs are a worst team......but the season has not started yet and I expect some additional changes to the team.......but their young core is still improving.....and I think the Leafs are better than both Florida and Boston right now.
I also think Tampa is declining and its players are beat up after playing so many playoff games the last 3 years.......Tampa fans are going to realize the value of Ryan McDonagh this next year and I think this is a big blow to the leadership of their team.
Ottawa and Detroit are going to be much better and Montreal will be a bit better.
Leafs have been working on upgrading some of their bottom six players and I think some of the recent additions are under-rated and could surprise alot of people.....and also think Dubas has some more changes comming to the team.

IS THIS LEGAL
It's called cap circumvention and is illegal. This is an open ended term that allows the NHL the right to void contracts and issue penalties against a team that they feel has done something with the sole purpose of circumventing the cap.
This comes from an article from the bleacher report. Basically they can do what they want if they <strong>feel</strong> the goal was to circumvent the cap.
The NHL has the right to void contracts they feel circumvent the salary cap when they are presented to them when a player and an organization agree.

It’s not as of now, but the NHL would likely put a rule in against it after it happens once, it would also depend on when the trade occurs, it would likely have to happen around the deadline for the NHL not to veto the trade.
