Depends, you do have 20+ million in cap space the following year and the only needs will be Jarry, Blueger and a backup so you might be able to. If POJ can take a top 4 spot, you don't really need to bring back Dumo and can find a cheaper replacement since his game has kind of dropped off a little.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Boldirev</b></div><div>This Miller trade is all over this site. I hope this is not the return as it just doesn't seem like enough. While Marino is a decent 2nd pairing RD, for him to be the center piece of a Miller trade is very underwhelming. The 21 OA in a very tepid draft, plus Kapanen, a fast but very flawed player doesn't add much either. I'd like to see a 2023 1st and a prospect with at least good potential as part of any Miller transaction. If this is all Miller can get, I just keep him and trade him for whatever at the TDL.</div></div>
Miller is a rental at this point and Marino would end up the top RHD in Van playing with Quinn. Both him and Kapanen fit the Canucks window a lot better than Miller along with whoever they get with the 1st. Maybe a prospect like Legare could be added in or something more if the Canucks retain salary, but overall, I don't think it's a terrible deal considering how every Canucks post I see has them chasing after Marino.

He drafted/traded for them when he was with the pens. And gave Marino his long-term deal. I don't know why he likes them, he has just shown in the past that he does. Not sure if the conditional pick is really necessary considering the Canucks are moving him because they probably can't resign him anyway.

Even with the 5th year you think? That's nearly a $40 million dollar contract to a 35 year old at $7.5! Just seems like a lot. There is room for it in this ACGM anyway so it could be done.

Need to get younger and faster
You probably have to keep Carter, which sucks. I'm really not a fan of that deal already, but I guess we'll wait and see. McGinn is also going to be tough to move. I think the pens should really consider the Miller deal, cause it's not often 100 point players who kill penalties, win faceoffs, play hard nosed hockey and play 20 minutes a night are available. And with the revenue the league made this year, maybe the cap goes up again and you can potentially bring him back.

What would Eberle cost
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LetsGoPens69</b></div><div>I don’t think any team is gonna hold 2.75M for 3 seasons.
That trade is a lot more balanced though, even like that. I still think it’s a bit of an overpay but a lot better.
And Pettersson > Soucey. Pettersson is 2 years younger, signed long term and 4M and 2.75M isn’t a big difference. I would think most every NHL would rather Pettersson</div></div>
I agree, he's probably a better player, but 1.375M is quite a bit less than 4M, especially when you already have 2 others at 4+M and are trying to make room to add an impact winger for Geno. I don't know, maybe I've just seen Eberle crush the Pens playoff dreams too many times and want to have him do that kind of thing for us for once, lol.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LetsGoPens69</b></div><div>I would say Kappy, a top 6(mid 6 at worst), 25 years old, RFA would be more attractive to Seattle than Eberle. So Kappy and a mid a round pick. Maybe a 2nd at best.</div></div>
What do you think of the fit as an addition to this team going into the playoffs? He's obviously gonna fit better than Kappy with Malkin cause how could he not. But I think they would mesh really well and give the pens four really good lines.
Think you could go Kapanen and a 1st and get 50% retention?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LetsGoPens69</b></div><div>Your nuts buddy..lol. No way Eberle at 5.5M for 3 more years cost that. NHL teams are way too cap worried and cap strapped. And definitely too much value for Eberle at 5.5.M per.
I’d take Petterson over Soucey too. 4M and 2.75M isn’t a huge cap savings. A doubt Seattle would retain 1.3M for 2 years.</div></div>
That's the point of this, trying to hone in on his value. If this is an overpay, that's not an issue. Take out Hallander and/or POJ or the 1st then. Or look to get some retention on Eberle's contract to make it better value. With talent around him he is still a good top 6 player who has shown he performs at playoff time.

Realistic Deadline
Only thing I'd change is give E-rod a chance to play with Geno and Kappy. 1. because he's earned it, and 2. cause Zucker hasn't really fit in well there. I like the trade, just don't know that a 3rd is enough, then again, he's a rental from a team with too much goalie depth so who knows. Can't wait to see what this team can do when they aren't playing with a fourth line straight out of Wilkes-Barre.

Most likely Pens trade
I am so nervous that they are gonna do something stupid. if you give up anything more than a 7th rounder for a player that is not going to be in the lineup when it is healthy that would be absolutely moronic with the position of this team. Sullivan doesn't play players like this, so what is the point? Just going to create friction between the coach and the front office.

If that's the case, then the yotes just pick him up off waivers and don't give away their best player for a second rounder. Has to be a first or a blue chipper in a deal for Garland.

Yeah, it's awesome to watch, just makes lineup decisions tough when players start to get healthy again as you want the best players in, but you don't want to mess with that chemistry

Getting Taylor Hall on a Contender Discount
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockyluv21</b></div><div>If Hall performs at his original top-caliber form with Carolina, though, a Pavelski-style 3-4 year pact at $8.5-9.5M per wouldn't be a terrible outcome in free agency for Hall.</div></div>
True, would have to sacrifice a lot to get on a contender though. There is also the potential his stock just continues to drop and he ends up with even less. So it would be whether he wants the security now or does he take the risk?

Getting Taylor Hall on a Contender Discount
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockyluv21</b></div><div>Fair. I don't see Hall coming to Carolina short of an extension before the trade, however. I also think that any Hall decision while the flat cap is going on will go down to either full value or contending. This deal would give him a bridge of sorts to ride the flat cap and help rebuild his value with an elite team before truly cashing in.</div></div>
only thing with that is he will be 31 by that time and there aren't many teams that would be willing to offer a big long-term contract to a player already in his 30's and hi s best years likely behind him, especially if the cap hasn't changed much by then which is a real possibility.

I feel bad for Bruins fans
I'm glad someone else said something, they spent the entire second and third periods complaining about the officiating. A couple bad penalty calls is not the reason they lost the game, they had 4 powerplays and didn't score and New Jersey didn't get anything on the powerplay either. The fact that they can't score an even strength goal to save their lives is why they lost.
