I promise you no one is as close to delusional as leafs fans who think their trash is worth premium assets lol. You act like 4OA and Kent Johnson are worthless lol. That trade package could get a lot of very good players in the league. Not saying the sens do it but it’s not like it’s a straight up insulting offer. Nowhere near as lopsided as leafs fans thinking marner is worth that lol.
I would like the jackets to target Brady in a trade but I will gladly keep Kent Johnson and draft one of demidov, levshunov, or lindstrom. Lindstrom could very well end up being a center version of Brady or close to it and would be younger cheaper

Basically the deal is one of Demidov/Levshunov/Lindstrom + KJ for Brady which is probably close value wise. I do think if Brady was available there would be a ton of teams sending in offers though, but this would definitely be one of the better ones.

4OA is absolutely not in play for Marner. I do not care what a stupid Sportsnet article says.

Random Player Generator
Well if you want to go all "erhm actually", They'd be over the cap.
The process was random position generator (positions were completed in groups i.e. all LW's, all RD's) , random team wheel, then number generator 1-20, then player picked based on highest to lowest cap hit, and then the players were positioned by me to make a somewhat competitive roster.
I'm deeply sorry that I wanted to have fun and create a realistic roster and not a jumbled mess that makes no sense.
My randomness will be more random next time. I'll be better, I promise.

Marner to CBJ
This makes sense to Leaf fans but realistically it doesn't fit Columbus window, Jirichek, Fantilli,Mateychuk and their 2024 1st will all be within 4 years of age. Trading one of those pieces for a 27 year old winger isn't the way they get ahead.
Marner is a guy they go after in FA, not who they trade for and give up premium assets

New look in goal and another big body
Radko Gudas is the better of the only two NHL-experienced RhDs we have in the system. He's a physical force and a locker-room favorite and also provides veteran leadership. Anaheim can't really afford to trade him unless offered a ridiculous overpay. Sorry!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CBJ0521</b></div><div>makes sense. any idea of a good alternative assuming we move provy?</div></div>
Well, ideally you sign Dillon to be 2LD and, after moving Provorov, ease Mateychuk in after starting him in Cleveland. Pair Mateychuk with Gudbranson to start, then with Severson. Gudas is an RHD, anyway. Not really a target for Columbus in my opinion.

Dillon is my number one FA target.
Florida probably declines.
Anaheim definitely declines. They need Gudas for the same reason.

Marner wont get 13 mill lol. 11.5 at most, the same as Nylander.
I know they had a down year, but Sillinger, Fantilli, Voronokov up the middle is gonna be a nightmare. Guadreau, Johnson, Tarasov on the left, with Marner, Laine, Marchenko on the right, that is very solid. Not to mention Alex Nylander who has seemed to find a new gear in Columbus. They also have a pretty well rounded d-core, with some great young players like Jiricek ready to take the leap. Greaves and Merzlikins aren't the best tandem in the NHL, but on a solid team they would get the job done.
They had a TON of injuries this year, which really stunted their season.
They might be a playoff team sooner then people think.

Bring in a vet and trust your players to bounce back
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CBJ0521</b></div><div>I don't disagree with that. I can also see us trading Provy and just resigning Jake Bean to play that 3LD role until Mateychuk is ready. I think he can get there quickly.
In any case, I see us making a move (probably an overpay that we can afford) for an established vet to act as a bridge for the young D and bring some more stability to the room. I really like what Gudbranson has brought as a leader, if you can afford it, you cant have too many of those guys</div></div>
I'd be on board for this entirely. If we're likely a year or two away from competing, might as well sign some vets to mentor the kids while they develop for a couple years.
I like the lines, and I think this is the right direction forward. Just hoping people don't stagnate next year.

Could the Jackets trade Gaudreau
To summarize more quickly than <a href="/users/squashmaple" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@squashmaple</a>, whose reply is comprehensive: no, absolutely not.
Even if Columbus had an appetite to move him, you'd have to convince JG to waive a full NMC which he took presumably to have stability, which is going to be a no.
Shipping out the biggest UFA the franchise has ever landed 2 years in with 5 years remaining because "oh boo hoo bad team in a retool is bad" is such a bad look/loser mentality. We're probably no more than 2 years away from actually competing if we just hold and play our cards right.
He's happy. He's fine. He'll still be a significant part of the team in a couple years when the majority of the players on the roster actually have a fully-developed prefrontal cortex.

As a jackets fan this trade is one of the few that I’ve seen on here that I would consider. I think the team would rather just stick with laine unless he wants out though

Not a CBJ Fan Just Curious
I like where you are going with the aggressiveness - I’ve long been upset at the number of times Jarmo did his “weaponize the cap,” schpiel, only to, well, not.
My hold up is the Kampf trade and the retention - I get the balance of cap with trading for him and retaining on Elvis, but doing that and then trading for Campbell feels redundant, and that’s before getting to also retaining on Grubauer (I.e. we just turned one $5.4M cap hit into three for a total of $10.6M). I’ve <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/5003890">danced on this before</a>, but I think an Elvis for Campbell 1-for-1 could work. The alternative is Elvis just gets bought out, which is a cap hit CBJ can take right now.
Laine does need to be moved, and as much as I feel he would kick ass in VGK, I don’t see CBJ being on Bill’s OK list for his NTC.
I actually think CBJ’s C depth is at the best it’s been in a long time. Fantilli-Sillinger-Voronkov-Kuraly is looking like it could be real, and that’s before CBJ likely end up with a Lindstrom or Cattan (or Celebrini?) after this draft.
As for Dillon? CBJ already have Guds as their obligatory “big-bodied D” signing. Voronkov is also built like <a href="https://theathletic.com/4489581/2023/05/04/blue-jackets-dmitri-voronkov/?source=user_shared_article" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">semi-truck,</a> and will learn to throw the body more as he gets experience. Mateychuk almost made the team out of camp this year, and he’ll likely slot in next season.

I see it as Elvis-for-Kemper in a change-of-scenery swap, and the rest of the package for Laine. So, a mid-1st, a late 2nd, and a few lottery ticket prospects?
Cool by me.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>brady_t12</b></div><div>I'd want to take out Suzdalev but would otherwise I'm not against the columbus trade. Not sure if Toronto has interest in TVR but if they do this could be good for both sides.</div></div>
I'm not against the Laine trade even with Suzdalev taken out. Maybe throw in a late-round pick instead just to pick up another lottery ticket?
Laine + Elvis for Kuemper + 2024 1st + 2025 COL 2nd + 2025 WSH 5th + Magnusson?
Much less and Columbus just keeps him. But a few good draft picks and a few lottery tickets is probably enough to entice us to move an expensive player for whom we may have replacements already in the system.

That Raymond trade is arguably a bad idea for both sides. The Jackets are overstocked with quality wingers ,and Detroit needs a guy actually producing like Raymond more than they need another lottery ticket.
