Draft UFA Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BuckRogers</b></div><div>I agree with the two way street, but next year he will become UFA and he wants to play in is home town, so if the Jets want to get a return the need think about it.
Harris plays Left and Right, they have players in the deal that can play in NHL level and with a two way center of course he needs to be healthy to be available... Harris was a dominant D in US programs and NCAA. He as great skating, vision, passing... Really nice prospect playing in the NHL level at 20 years old for D it's not commend. First pick in 2023 draft none protected!!!
In the circumstances It is a fare return. If not MTL they can wait another year and sign him as UFA.</div></div>
Here's the thing we already have our lefty playing right in schmidt and with trade protection and his play would have little value and isn't worth it to swap for a guy in Harris who sure is good but doesn't change the needle on defense. The nhl forwards are more just extra for us and do nothing long term. They are nice to have but no value wise for the jets where we have young talent emerging in lambert and others that would be held back for them creating a situation worse than if we never got them. The first is nice but that's about it. See what I mean now about looking at a teams situation to evaluate what a deal could consist of so a deal can realistically make both gain what they need. This is why even tho this deal has value 3/4 pieces don't really do anything and thus create fluff to pad a deal without actually making it better for the team.

I think there's going to be a bit of a bidding war for RHD next season, so I am doubtful you'll get both Dumba and Mayfield for those prices.

If that's what the Coyotes are asking, I politely say "thanks but no thanks"
I'm not going to put myself in cap hell and pay 3 first round picks and 2 second round picks for Chychrun.
Remove Ostapchuk or Bernard-Docker and I would probably do it
Brännström, Erik : 2nd round pick value but think he will re-establish his (1st round) value this season (I could see him post 35+ pts easily)
Ostapchuk, Zack : 1st round pick value, if it is not clear now, it will be in a few months
Bernard-Docker, Jacob : 1st round pick value, projects as a solid top-4 defensive D-man
2024 1st round pick (OTT) : another 1st
2023 2nd round pick (OTT) : another 2nd

It certainly helps the tank. I'm not sure Seth Jones would accept though. Also, not 100% sure MTL would want to do this. They're every bit as close to getting Bedard as CHI/AZ. The Atlantic is by far the hardest division.

So other than that pick, what’s in this of value to WPG?</div></div>
He’s going to be a very solid 2 way top 6 centre. I wouldn’t want to trade him tbh

No problem to qualify for playoffs 2022-2023
I thought Sens fans were hoping Giroux would come back home to finish his career? He'd be a hell of a lot cheaper than Kane and can play both C and W. Seems like a better option to me. Also, I bet Forsberg wants both more money and term if he's going to Canada with that tax rate. Give him 9x7 then sign Giroux instead of trading for Kane. Even then, though, I'm not sure that bottom six and D are good enough to "easily" make the playoffs in the East.

I didn't mention this guy, not your typical "star" but the guy that literally sets the scale for expected goals and shots at 5 on 5 and is in the top 2% for GF while having positive defensive numbers should probably be considered a star too haha

I spent yesterday defending Gally! Love him! As much as Habs fans probably hate the comparison, he's essentially Marchand-lite. I'm glad he got paid.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Danny_Canuck</b></div><div>Paying too much for heart and soul is a huge mistake. Check the Canucks bottom six of you want to see what that looks like. I know the Habs have identity/character issues but paying such a premium would be crazy.</div></div>
that's the point, he's being paid 5.5-6M as a 30 goal, 50-60 point gritty winger.... the extra above it is the heart and soul.
Canucks dumped money on Beagle and Roussel because they were desperate and none of them produce at a pace commensurate to the salary.
Gallagher will get paid, i'm hoping in the 5.5, but realistically it will be 6... my hope is a 4 year term to manage it in case he becomes an injury bound player as he gets older.

I love Brendan Gallagher but don't understand why Habs fans think he's worth so much. I also wonder if that Tatar extension is prudent at his age, but will concede that top nine could be really good if JK can re-establish himself as a high end prospect.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>Sure, Price is a star. Weber? Sure, maybe...
As for comparing Pittsburgh and Philly? They were both legitimately in playoff positions. Montreal was 10 points back. Everyone can be super happy about beating someone in a 5 game series after 5 months off, but if you really want to bank on that, there's a good chance that you'll end up being disappointed.
As for prospects, I really like Suzuki, and think he could make a jump this season. As for KK, Romanov and Caufield-They've all got a long way to go.
Again, there's certainly a decent future for the Habs, but every team in the league has young guys like KK, Romanov, and Caufield.</div></div>
Not saying they are better than Pittsburgh or Philly, just saying that Suzuki was playing like a "star" in those series, outplayed Crosby, Malkin, Giroux, etc.
Not every team in the league has someone who made the NHL as a center at 18 years old, Kotkaniemi had better rookie seasons than Dach, Hughes, etc... he had a down year and bounced back in playoffs, so the potential has always been there.
Not every team has the guy who broke Phil Kessel's goal scoring record with USNDT or Ovechkins U18 IIHF tournament goal scoring record like Caufield did. He was also better than Turcotte with Wisconsin, and Turcotte was a 5th overall pick.
Not every team has a player who was WJC top defenseman and made the 1st all star team in back to back years.
I'm not trying to say that all of these guys are going to be stars, I'm just saying they have some real potential there and now they've insulated everyone with good wingers, good size (up front and on defense) and there cap situation still has them set up to resign UFA's and pay the young guys.

Domi is not a bad player, but didn’t he end up as their 4C come playoffs? I don’t think he is a guy who Gorton should get especially at such a high price tag. Kravtsov has been playing well and seems like if his confidence remains, he’s a future top 6 Winger in NY. The Rangers have Ryan Strome as 2C right now. Domi as of now isn’t an upgrade and if he is, it’s minimal. Strome does have chemistry with Panarin. If any C from MTL comes back to NYR it’d need to be Danault. Obviously Suzuki and Kotkaniemi are the future 1/2 Cs and Gorton isn’t getting either of them.

This is pretty good, Hoffman would help the PP.
I would personally trade Domi since he way more effective as a C and another year of playing him at wing would just diminish his value.
Also, if you look at the UFA's this year there are no centers available and the Jets need a top 6 C really badly.
Apparently Mantha is in Eichel / Matthews territory and totally untradeable, but the Jets have a guy a lot like Mantha in Vesalainen who could be acquired.

Poolparty isn’t needed with Caufield coming soon. The forward lineup is very solid. I know the Ehlers trade has been thrown around a lot and people seem to think the value isn’t there one for one, it’s a trade that makes sense for both teams and if the habs need to sweeten the pot I’d add in Fleury and a pick.
I like the additions of Hall and Killorn, that third line would be a tough ass line to play against and every one of the lines could put up some goals.
This is one of the best lineups I’ve seen. With Caufield, Ylonen and those two first rounders this draft we will still have some great options in the future. Harris, Norlinder, Struble all could be fighting for positions when Chiarot and Kulak expire. Future looks bright!!

If WPG wants a 2C, there are many other options that will come at a smaller cost than trading for Domi. Ex: Ryan Strome, Erik Haula (FA), Paul Stastny, just to name a few. Not trying to blow this AGM off, I like the creativity. Just my two cents.
