Blockbuster trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BuckRogers</b></div><div>Look it this way, Jets have a second line that can score average of 70 goals per season, that can close any first line of the league and provides character to the team. Yes you are giving two offensive players which you have already in The roster. Balancing things out.</div></div>
None of that is any reason why the Jets are giving up the three most valuable things in that trade. Brutal value for them

Perhaps not sure how I feel about that but it’s good enough offer that would make me really think about and strongly consider. For that good job

What s needed
I won't get into what you traded to acquire the players you picked (others can do that), but I like Nurse and Hanifin. I am personally not big on Puljujarvi and Gaudreau. Don't get me wrong, I think Gaudreau is still a heck of a player, but adding him makes us smaller on the wings and he hasn't shown up in the postseason yet. I would aim for someone else. That's just my opinion.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BuckRogers</b></div><div>Good decision for the future. When you are in window you have to go with players to win right now.</div></div>
Sure. But they could also sign a similar player in free agency and not give up 11OA. I wouldn't mind Tatar, but I dont see any scenario where NSH trades 11OA - especially for a 30 year old player.
Edit: Poile has talked about getting younger a lot this off-season, so I don't see a deal like this happening.

No I was saying Tatar extended at 6 mil x 5 years for Puljujarvi + 1st which is absolutely fair as Tatar can easily get a 1st + A prospect + 3rd

What they need Time
My prevailing take on the Habs: They don't have time.
They have a very good prospect pool, yes, but the veteran pieces they need to have in order to have a legit playoff team (Danault, Tatar, Petry, Gallagher and Armia in particular) are expiring free agents next year. Montreal has enough cap space to bring them back, but you never know what will happen in free agency. Price and Weber are also aging and while Primeau looks like he could be the heir apparent to the former, I don't see one coming up for the latter (not on the right side at least). Without two or three of those guys, this team is a lot less scary imo and I don't know if they can compete in a division that includes teams like Tampa, Toronto, Boston and eventually Florida and hopefully (for their sake) Buffalo.
I think in 3-4 years, if they let all of their prospects mature, they could be a legit contender, but I could also see them falling into a cycle where they're kinda just stuck in the middle. Sounds crazy, but if they could find a way to get a guy like Hall or Pietrangelo in free agency this year, I feel like that could go a long way towards helping their future, even though it will cost them quite a bit.
I know that's not an optimistic take and I don't want to seem like a huge downer, but that's just what I'm seeing, as an outsider.

Is It time to move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BuckRogers</b></div><div>Well regardless you have to take decisions on what to do. Status quo is not helping this franchise getting on the winning track. Younger players will come along and this roter will shift around.
Tatar and Petry Would provide good assets in return and will release 10,3M// Weal out gives 1,4$M// Alzner contract maybe buried wait and see…</div></div>
Status Quo is exactly what will get Montreal back to winning ways.
We have one of the best prospect cores in the league and 6 picks in the first 3 rounds this year. We have to figure out a way to keep the core together and let the team grow from within. Trading futures for help now doesn't help us maintain a winning team.

to be fair he is probably worth your 1st if it's in the 9-12 range (7 is too high IMO) but i believe Cozens can be the best player from the 2019 draft. Big, strong and skates like the wind. Him and Eichel on the same line would be fun to watch

Nice roster!
I like the idea of pairing Romanov with Weber to help his development!
Depending on what happens to the salary cap, i wouldn't be surprised Hoffman gets closer to 8M/year...
If so, would you still go after him in free agency?

Covid-19 salary cap impact players signatures
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Habs_Hfx10</b></div><div>Don’t know what you have against Domi but since joining the habs he’s had a career year and although his play was inconsistent still put up decent numbers this season. That’s not a bad contract at all. Although Tatar has been great since joining us it’s possible his play will be declining when the habs are contenders. I’m both for trading him and signing him, if we get an overpay offer we move him, if he asks too long of term we should move him . Adding youth which will be ready when we’re contenders is a good move as well</div></div>
I agree with you completely about Tatar, but I don’t know why anyone would be willing to overpay an aging Taylor Hall, when he’s only 11 months younger than Tatar, and has had injury issues before. As for the youth, yeah it’s good to add it, but you need to have a mix. I prefer to have young players like Romanov, Primeau, Caufield, etc. mixed with veterans like Price, Weber, Gallagher, & Tatar. IMO we have enough young players & prospects to fill out a roster for when we are contenders, and should be focusing on keeping some veterans, so we have experience when the time comes.

Hillis and Houde’s rights expire on June 1st. They can’t go to camp if we don’t sign them. Harris and Caufield can’t go to training camp if they’re going to school. Ikonen won’t go to camp when he just signed an extension, and his regular season will have started before training camp. And that’s only if he has an out clause.
Waked is just plain bad.

Signing Hall would be great.
We don’t really need Ratcliffe.
EDM gives way too much. Weal would prob go for a 5th max.
Tatar trade is pretty fair, he’s a first line winger. Petry/Nylander trade too unrealistic.

Yeah, Tampa should be better than they have been and Florida is a good team too. Montreal is in tough but I think TO is in the spot they'll be in till the end of the season. Unless injuries of course.
