Sure, whatever. But why would the Sens give up Brady in a deal where he's the best player? It doesn't make any sense unless they're upgrading.

Playoffs
That's interesting for Ullmark. On one hand it's a lot for one year of Ullmark. On the other hand, while I like Jarventie, it's not THAT much for Ullmark to solve the goalie problem since Craig Anderson left... It really depends on whether they're able to re-sign him for a similar number. Which will be hard when you're paying Korpisalo $4M.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>The Jets don't have the cap space or an extra roster spot to waste on Hamonic.</div></div>
Yea, I think they either have to buy him out or ride out the year with him on the roster. As long as they aren't up against the cap this year having him on the roster is tempting - get it over with this year, and there's the potential that he could be needed with some injuries.

I also don’t see any big ticket free agents at a premium position opting to go to Ottawa at the moment either given how poor Ottawa has been for a long while now.
I’m not saying you guys should move your 1st. But I also don’t see things turning around in the near future without moving it. There is no defensive structure in place anywhere on the roster, and it would take a miracle for an 18 year old defenseman to change that in the next 3-5 years.</div></div>
I'm not defending the "5 better RD in free agency" comment - but trading that pick like that is goofy.
Trading a top 10 pick for the ages 31-36 seasons of a pretty-good-but-not-great D is not the way to be long-term successful either. If you were trading for prime Chara, yea, you can make the case.

If Leafs have to get rid of Jarnkrok for cap, why aren't the Leafs giving up the better pick to pay Ottawa to take on cap hit for multiple years?

I don't think the Sens are set on getting a center. If they don't trade 2 centers in the other deal in the armchairGM, they have 6 that can reasonably slot in NHL (Stutzle, Norris, Pinto, Grieg, Ostapchuck, Kastelic)
I actually thought the Korpisalo thing made a little bit of sense, but I'd forgotten that Johansen had salary retained and was coming at the full $8M.
Agree with you - this isn't really a good base for a trade. If Frost is out, who do you think Flyers would propose to send back in a Chychrun trade? Obviously Sens would be interested in Bonk with him being a local, he was a late 1st...

So if they trade Tarasenko with 50% retention to maximize the return for him, + Norris is LTIR - they can retain 50% on any rental. Being 3rd party retaining $3.75M on Hanafin is going to be better for getting assets than trading Kubalik at ½ price.
Drop Kubalik for 7th or Frank Charlie without retention or just don't trade him.

Honestly - I don't think the Sens want to use both their available retention slots for Kubalik and Tarasenko. Just because they can probably get more for a 3rd party retention than the difference between Kubalik unretained and retained.

Why would that be? There was no buyout involved, and he signed with the Sens as a free agent. If they had traded him and he had been bought out is what you're thinking of, I think.

Definitely this. DeBrusk is streaky in his offensive production - but his overall play is pretty good even when he's not playing well.

5 acceptable ways in which the Oilers can pay for Tarasenko

Tarasenko's most common center is Tim Stutzle. He has played less than 15% of his TOI with Kubalik.</div></div>
I admit I don't watch every game - that really surprises me. It's been Joseph-Stutzle-Giroux for most of the time that Martin has been coaching, and Tarasenko was playing with Grieg in the fall. Tarasenko & Stutzle did play together for a bit - but that was when everyone in r/OttawaSenators was down on Stutzle as not living up to his contract - trade the bum.

I'm okay with this as a return for Chychrun - it doesn't all have to be in one transaction. You're opening up cap space to potentially get UFA and/or getting value that can be flipped for the RHD that's needed.

Not trying to defend every detail of that proposal, but Tarasenko has been playing almost exclusively 3rd line this year, with a not-overly-interested-looking Kubalik for much of the year - and there's a cost for $2.5M in salary retention (Sens only have 2 salary retention slots available)

A Norris Trade Without Any Salary Dumps
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>So what are you going to add to Stutzle to increase his value to be worth that? That's the problem, Stutzle's fine, but his defensive game needs work. He's a known diver. Stutzle IS that - he's scored 39 goals and 90 points, is 22 and in the first year of an 8 year deal for $8.3M.

A Norris Trade Without Any Salary Dumps
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Nikishin's going to be better than Chabot, Chychrun and Kleven... he's breaking KHL record books. There's a genuine case to say he'd be in the Norris conversation if he was in the NHL already. He's going to be an absolute star. Forget what you have, that's why teams always want him. Carolina's INCREDIBLY unlikely to move him. That's like me saying the Canes wouldn't want Tkachuk because they have Jarvis, Svechnikov and Necas. You can never have too much of a good thing, especially young prospects.
Pinto doesn't have more value than Norris to teams outside of Ottawa. Norris has proven he can hit the 70 point plateau, and the issue with him is injuries. If he puts those behind him, he'll be fine. Pinto's career high in points is 35, and he's got 9 so far this season. He's been good in the 9 games he's played, but the fact he's ONLY played 9 games is a major concern. Especially because it was self inflicted.
Stutzle is the only center from the Senators that makes sense for me. It would take the Canes almost everything they have, which is risky with how streaky he is, but he's the only one worth the interest. Not wanting to trade Stutzle is one thing, but to say the Canes don't have the assets to do it is just outright incorrect.</div></div>
People were really excited about Yakupov too. And who knows if Nikishin's even going to be able to come to North America. You're right, Sens shouldn't say no to a LD prospect - but there's no reason they should trade Stutzle for him.
I'm looking for a center who's scored at least 30 goals and 90 points, is under 25 and is under contract for at least 6 years for less than $9M if I'm trading Stutzle.

Norris had one injury. Attempted to rehab it without surgery, then re-injured it.
For whatever reason, the Sens haven't run the powerplay that Norris scored all those goals from all year. If you set him up in a mirror image of Washington's PP in the flipped Ovi spot, he'll get a pile of PP goals.
As far as Ottawa's other C's:
1. Pinto won't be cheaper to aquire. Should be more than Norris, actually.
2. I don't think Carolina actually has the assets to make a run at Stutzle.
