It’s widely known Necas isn’t really a piece that will stay in Carolina, I don’t see the team having a ton of leverage in a trade</div></div>
They'll have bidders for Necas, but I would think Necas would have to agree to a long-term extension to get the move done.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Faeyla</b></div><div>Friedman had a report that Pesce turned down a 5x5 deal at the beginning of the offseason, which led us to try and see who we can trade him to. Nothing worked out, DeAngelo was brought in again, and that's that. Many of us assume he's gone now, especially with expectations of Morrow sliding up to his spot next year.
Teravainen, I'd love to keep around, but we'll see what he wants for a deal first. (It's already looking like Unger Sorum might be the Teravainen replacement with how well he played for us in the preseason for next year or the year after.) Skjei is the biggest worry since he'll have a ton of leverage thanks to his performances the past two seasons.</div></div>
From what I have seen in the rumor mill, it sounds like Necas, Turbo, and Pesce are not coming back to Carolina. I haven't seen anything on Skjei so maybe they are choosing to retain Skjei over Necas? I think its a foregone conclusion that Pesce is gone.
Canes are definitely prioritizing Guentzel and Jarvis.

Agree to disagree... they should deal him early in the offseason to maximize their leverage because otherwise I think it creates issues for the Canes and they run the risk of Necas taking a one year deal and walking next year for nothing.

So they would match a $7M+ offer sheet on a player who doesn't want to be there and will probably create issues/force his way out at some point instead of taking multiple draft picks?

Necas doesn't sign for less than $6M and is more likely in the $7M range.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NJTM</b></div><div>What team do you suppose this is? Colorado does not have its 2025 first, neither does Toronto. Edmonton doesn’t have its 2024 first. Los Angeles has to empty their bank account for Quinton Byfield and probably can’t take on Linus Ullmark without shedding significant salary (Dubois).
NJD has the most draft capital after a trade deadline season of selling and acquiring extra draft capital. The Devils would have the most ammo to go after Linus Ullmark.</div></div>
Teams that could/should be in the goaltender market: Chicago, Colorado, Columbus, Detroit, Edmonton, LAK, Montreal, New Jersey, Ottawa, Pitt, Philly, San Jose, Toronto, and Utah. Some of those teams like Pitt/Columbus/Ottawa probably won't be aggressive in adding a goalie given their cap situation/goalie contracts on the roster. I don't think Boston would trade Ullmark to Toronto unless its a massive overpay.
Colorado, Detroit, Edmonton, LAK, and New Jersey will probably be the most aggressive because they are good teams that could be contenders but are held back by their goaltending situations. LAK has $19M+ in cap space and some middle 6 forwards to sign. They can afford Ullmark without shedding PLD. I don't think Boston would care much about 2024 1st vs 2025 1st. We'll see but I think some team will give them a 1st and possibly a mid-round pick for Ullmark.
1st and 3rd seems to be the historical comp for a Vezina caliber goalie

I would bet Ullmark brings back at least a 1st from some team... a lot of teams are going to be in the goalie market this offseason and Ullmark might be the best one available.

That's probably fair. Faber would probably be the closest comparison but IMO Lohrei has a bit more value now than Faber did at the time he was traded since Faber was still playing college and hadn't turned pro yet.

That's reportedly part of the reason he is leaving the Canes... he has played center everywhere except for Brind'Amour. Necas thinks he is a center and Rod hasn't given much of an opportunity to play center.
I would love to get a Canes fan opinion on Necas at center. From what I have seen from his play, I think he 100% could be a high-end center in the NHL

Disagree - he would immediately be one of the top offensive players on the team. Outside of this year, his other seasons were closer to 45 and 46% at the dot... just don't put him on the face-off in key defensive situations. IMO Zacha-Necas-Pasta would be one of the best lines in hockey.
Jack Hughes has never topped 40% at the dot and he still plays center. You can work around it: Coyle, Beecher, Geekie, Zacha, Poitras... there are enough guys who can win a faceoff in key situations.

From NJD I’d consider that like a Gritysuk. Maybe for Boston that’s Lysell or Lohrei. I think Poitras would be a tier above that but idk about his injury impact on value.</div></div>
I would think that Lohrei/Poitras are untouchable unless you are getting a surefire superstar (closer to an Aho than a Necas). If I was Sweeney, I would be willing to add Lysell to get Necas if he extends for 8 years at $7M AAV - I would rather do that than sign Elias Lindholm to the same contract.

Jarvis probably gets $6.5-7M AAV and Guentzel might come closer to $9.5M.
They can afford him, but probably realize that Slavin is going to need to get paid and want to build more depth in the bottom 6. IMO I would trade Kuznetsov, KK, and Burns before dealing Necas

Bruins should absolutely bring back Debrusk... can't rely on Marchand to continue to produce forever and I like Debrusk at that number. Would probably be willing to go to 6 years on him. He can play every situation and I think we still haven't seen JDB at his peak.
I also like bringing Forbort back for defensive depth.
Not a fan of moving Beecher to the wing and putting Geekie on the 4th line. IMO Freddy-Poitras-Geekie should be a lock for the third line at the start of next year.
Maroon is probably gone and I am not sure I see a spot for Heinen on the roster.
Not a fan of the Elias Lindholm contract - too much money and too long of a term. I would rather use the picks from the Ullmark deal to go acquire Necas.

Necas looked very good at center when they put talent on his wings... he reminds me of Krejci a bit in that sense. With Zacha and Pasta on his wings, Necas could be a 90 point player IMO and I think Pasta could hit 120 points.
Not concerned about his two-way game, Bruins need offense and the rest of the line-up is defensively solid.

Allow me to be more clear... on the whole I believe Ullmark is a more valuable goaltender. He is younger, his career regular season stats are better, an he has won a Vezina.
If you want to play the playoff game, Ullmark's only start this postseason was better than any of Anderson's starts in the Rangers series with the exception of Game 5.

Ullmark's playoff sample size is pretty small... only 10 games total and he was reportedly injured for most of them (the 6 games last season). IMO the sample size is too small to draw conclusions.
