Trading Ullmark to a rival is a risky move. Dont think we would have to add potsy to the trade nor would u want to. JD wont sign 4 Mil. Swayman probably only gets 7Mil not 7.5 no need for schultz would look for a cheaper option and be a LD since wotherspoon is our weakest dman. same with boqvist 1.5 for a extra when most likely Lysell or Merk will make it out of camp so one can take a spot in the top 9. Toffoli isnt terrible but paying him till hes 37 at 5.5 is a bound to flop.

ullmark does nothing for the canes. He is worse than freddie by a good margin in the playoffs.

Freddie hasnt ended a playoff year with the low of a number. His career is a .914

Ullmark's playoff sample size is pretty small... only 10 games total and he was reportedly injured for most of them (the 6 games last season). IMO the sample size is too small to draw conclusions.

Ok…so I have most of my fellow Canes fans on this website blocked, so I usually only see their comments when someone else quotes them. I have a major problem with the sheer definitive nature Canes fans tend to make claims.

Freddie isn’t head and shoulders above ullmark, ultimately they are very similar players. However, neither of them are difference makers enough to trade assets for. There are something like 5-7 goalies in the entire league that raise above the rest of the average guys. All of the guys in the average tier are all similar to the point of it not really mattering. You have the dudes, the average starters, and then a ton of backups.

Swayman might be one of those dudes. But Ullmark and Freddie are on the 2nd tier of guys.

Allow me to be more clear... on the whole I believe Ullmark is a more valuable goaltender. He is younger, his career regular season stats are better, an he has won a Vezina.

If you want to play the playoff game, Ullmark's only start this postseason was better than any of Anderson's starts in the Rangers series with the exception of Game 5.

Ullmark has been better over the past two years, but the differentiation isn’t big enough to justify giving up Necas and the whole point of Necas being available is to free up room to sign Guentzel is my guess.

I could see him being available for a top 10 pick. What Boston will be willing to give up isn’t going to get it done
