Sure he’s available, everyone is available for the right price but no the Flyers aren’t actively shopping him which means you would have to blow them away to move him.

And no I don’t expect the Flyers to get Montreal or Calgary’s pick if they are in the top 5 cause that’s only like superstars that command that ask, so like I said I would put trade protections on it.

But if ur the Flyers u have to ask urself if I move Farabee what’s the likelihood I replace him with someone better? The likelihood of picking someone better with Winnipeg’s pick is definitely low so there’s no real incentive for them to make that deal.</div></div>

Fair enough, but my point still stands that someone like Farabee isn't close to being worth a potential #1C, even if he were to achieve 60-70pts with Suzuki as you suggest. Heck, Caufield is a full year younger than Farabee, has already reached 65pts and has a higher offensive ceiling, and even I'm willing to admit that he's not worth a potential #1C either. Your expectation of a return is too high.

But if anything, the answer to my question if Farabee is available should be "NO", or at least it might as well be that answer, if the only thing that would move him were a potential #1C. Or in other words; an impossibility.

The goal if they move Farabee is what the others in this thread said, get future top assets. Only way that can happen is through the draft because MTL won’t want to trade any of your top prospects which means we need to get our own.

Farrell has been a nice thing for MTL but doesn’t interest me much. You urself say Beck is only gonna be a 2C so that means the Flyers still need that 1C because Frost is also going to top out as a 2C. Understood, I can only see MTL be willing to part with WINs 1st rd pick this year, The 2025 CGY 1st rd pick could be moved, but not until MTL has more info on where the pick will land (There's no way they move it if it still has a possibility of being 2nd overall. Same applies for MTLs 2025 1st rd pick, until MTL knows how their season plays out, I highly doubt it's for sale.

And just my 2 cents, I don't see how a 24 year old winger who only just hit 50 pts, gets anywhere close to a potential #1C in value... Unless Philly is willing to add an even better asset to him, but at that point Farabee would only be a complimentary piece to the deal.

Nope, Dach is pretty much unmovable. Not just because Habs management have fully committed to him, and it's generally agreed upon that Dach has a higher ceiling than Suzuki. but because Dach has been dealing with too many injuries, there's no way MTL gets proper value for him in a trade. He <strong>needs</strong> to get healthy.
And if MTL were able to get another top 6 C (not a huge priority) like a Lindstrom at the draft, Dach can easily be moved to the wing, where he also had a lot of success.

Then DET should keep him.

I looked up every possible video of Soderblom last year, thinking he could be a good target for MTL. (and that's when he was probably valued at his highest, due to his hot start last year). The guy has got hands, and is obviously strong along the boards and in front of the net due to his sheer size. But his major issues (and looks like they haven't improved in the slightest this past season) were his skating and awareness. The guy is useless in transition. has no pace to his game, terrible edges, and easily gets lost in his own zone.

Nonsense. You clearly haven't seen him play then. He is the exact opposite of what you describe. He's massive, but plays like a 5'10" guy with skill. Söderblom's biggest flaw is that he doesn't use his size as an advantage enough.</div></div>

He could have the hands of a hockey god, and it would be pointless if he can't keep up at an NHL pace. The term "skill" doesn't just encompass having good handles, it's all-encompassing trait (stick handling, shooting, skating both speed and edge-work, awareness, playmaking, etc.) So no, Soderblom imo isn't a skilled forward. He's a fringe NHLer.

I'd be happy to be proven otherwise. But trading someone like Barron just makes his acquisition too risky, and definitely not necessary.

Fair enough. and if MTL were to actually acquire Rossi this offseason, I'd 100% be of the mindset of "no more small players!!! We have enough now, no more!!" and advocate that MTL start looking to add more power forwards 100%.
BUT... size isn't everything, speaking of recent cup winners, Tampa won both their cups with guys like Gourde, Point, Johnson in their top 9. MTL having Caufield, Hutson, Rossi should be fine.

I think Hughes and Gorton are fine with a mixture of type of players. Drafting Slafkovsky, trading for Dach (big players), but also drafting Hutson, trading for Newhook (smaller skilled guys). I think from a depth perspective (and I consider Rossi a depth middle 6 player), simply adding more offense should be the focus. Rossi would accomplish this imo, and would 100% help the 2nd PP unit and overall add secondary scoring.
But I agree adding some more grit at forward should still be a focus for MTL. There's not much coming through the system aside from F.Xhekaj and Tuch. Hopefully MTL can draft someone with some size with their 1st rd pick...*cough* Lindstrom *cough*....


EDIT: Another small component that could be a benefit for MTL with Rossi specifically. It adds another fellow Austrian that could help Reinbacher.

Wouldn't consider Kovacevic as part of MTLs defense prospects. He's turning 27 this summer. But yeah, he's definitely one of their depth Dman.

But I don't personally see why MTL would help the Leafs with their defensive struggles just to be compensated for 4th and a 5th rd pick. Is it market value for Kovacevic? probably. But from the looks of things, there would be a lot of teams looking to add him.
So, following simple supply &amp; demand...If several teams are all offering 4th + 5th rd picks for him. Someone is going to probably step things up to 3rd rd pick, and If there are still a few teams willing to up their bid. On and on it'll go.

Now, I doubt Kovacevic could get a 2nd rd pick...but's it's not unheard of. Marco Scandella (another depth Dman) was acquired by MTL for a 4th rd pick, then flipped for a 2nd rd pick a month later...why? Supply and demand.

Lot of different factors there:

- They traded Romanov because they knew they had Guhle (who had yet to play a game in the NHL yet) ready to step up and take his place, and probably didn't want Romanov blocking his path.

- Romanov was probably at his highest possible value when he was traded for 13th overall.

- Habs management probably value Guhle much higher than they did Romanov.


Look, you've made trade proposals on here for Guhle (for Holtz), other teams fan bases have made pitches for Guhle as well (this thread being another example)...Why? Because he's MTLs most well-rounded two-way LD with top pairing potential.
And I've said this before, 1 on 1 comparisons never being perfect, but Guhle is essentially a younger version of Jacob Slavin. Teams don't trade those kinds of players; they keep them around. Which is why Guhle should be considered an untouchable for MTL.
Not to mention it looks like Guhle will be signing an extension this summer. Probably somewhere in the range of $5.5mil aav (mid to short term) and as high $7mil aav (8 year max deal).

I think it would depend on Hughes' plan for Newhook (keep him as a 3rd line Center, or a top 6 winger), and when they project their prospects like Beck, Mesar, or Kapanen to be pushing for roster spots.

A key focus for MTL is finding depth scoring. Apart from the Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky line, there was almost literally no offense being generated. Having a healthy Dach back will do wonders to help with this, but adding someone like Rossi would be a solid move imo. Really depends on the cost.

Barron is probably the player MTL would want to dangle (along with draft picks), but doesn't look like what MIN would be looking for...If MIN is looking to add physicality, and would target someone that Habs probably don't want to give up (but could be realistically ok letting go), I think Struble would be a target. Guy is an absolute unit and built like a truck. Xhekaj would be an obvious other candidate, but he's pretty controversial on here lol.

Struble + WINs 2024 1st for Rossi? Not sure I like it as a Habs fan, but seems pretty fair market value if there are multiple teams bidding for Rossi.
