Radulovfor the all russian line
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>I think you paid for Radulov about six times over.</div></div>
Oh yeah ur right...to get a top player in the league for some early round picks and spare parts. Yeah...def over paid. C'mon man...that's ridiculous when you actually look at the value. But nonetheless, you're probably someone who thinks Lucas Johansen is developing well (hint hint...he was having a ****ty season before he got injured). This trades excess players, an ok prospect, a player whose value is decreasing (albeit a promising player) and a 1st,2nd,3rd for a beast (in radulov) who would slot in perfectly with kuzy and ovi. Your opinion is ridiculous, unwanted, and immaterial. You have demonstrated your lack of understanding about player's value.

Nick Ritchie for da caps now
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>Except that Boyd is top 100 in points/60 and in cost/point, and there's a salary cap. Ritchie seemed like a great bargain when he signed that deal, but Boyd's really doing great on offense this year, and some of his more obscure stats are just off the charts good. So, no. Definitely won't happen. Stop trading Boyd.</div></div>
well but by those efficiency statistics...rocco grimaldi is the best player in the league...smh. Don't just look at weird stats that prove your point. you have to understand asset management. Burk's value is submarining and it won't rise anytime soon. Ritchie is having a great year and plays hard and physical and can provide stability to that third line. Something which has been hard to attain this season. To get a player who is solid night night out and on a great contract, i'd take that over boyd and burky any day. You gotta understand that hockey is not necessarily an efficiency game. Its a marathon. Don;t talk to me about p/60 ..those are nonsensical and ignore the fact that players have to be durable for large swaths of time night in night out.

Pettersson Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>Kuzy = 26 and plays on a line with Ovi on one of the best teams in the NHL.
Petterson = 20 and plays on one of the worst teams in the NHL.
Petterson is also doing better this season. So he’s 6 years younger AND having a better season???</div></div>
i think there is a lot in the trade that would suggest neither team should do it. I do think it's actually a pretty fair trade, but nonetheless. Kuzy is russian and has great chemistry with all the russian players on the team. Kuzy is also proven as an 80 point guy and still has some room to grow. There is no uncertainty with his game or potential for a drop off with. He's a 1st line center and is well adapted to the style of hockey that is being played in the NHL right now. Pettersson looks incredible, don't get me wrong, but players do drop off and he just doesn't have as much proof that he will continue this. For those reasons, the caps would not want to do this trade.
Now for Vancouver, they see Petey as a guy who can keep up this pace and even get much better. They believe he will be a generational talent and will be a franchise transforming player. Getting Kuzy would give them a tried and true #1 center, but I don't think they have any doubt with Petersson. They believe that Petersson could be a way better player in his prime than Kuzy in his prime (which is a reasonable belief). For those reasons, they prob would believe they shouldn't do it.
I will say that Kuzy is on a very reasonable contract and for good term.
I think the value is fair, but not sure if either team would even do it.

that's why the Caps aren't just giving up one thing. The package is supposed to compensate for the lofty retained salary.

Well then the caps are very happy to have a player who will actually produce on their third line and for a very reasonable cap hit. 3.6 m for a well above average 3rd line player who can be a game breaker in some respects. Dont spend your time worrying about what the Caps gave up, they are more than happy with what they got back (and have him for a few more years at that).

Pretty solid for the most part... Not sure about Eichel (imo he might just be accurately rated). Also I might throw Backstrom and Jaden Schwartz in there, but if not, still pretty solid.

Somethings Gotta Happen With Nylander
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Capitalfail67</b></div><div>caps are in a win now mode....trading their best dman isn't the best move</div></div>
just because they have a roster that can win now, does not mean that they are only in win now mode. They very much care about the future. Being all-in win now mode is actually quite contrary to what even BMac says and how they have acted with regard in the past year with the roster/personnel and going forward. They have very much said that they want to win now but they need to make moves to secure a future for their team.

Also TO would totally match that offer sheet. To successfully offer sheet Nylander, you'll be paying him over 8.5 million a year on a minimum 6 year deal. That would cost 4 1st rounders, which is why it just won't happen.</div></div>
could not be more false... they are offering him 6. Nylander's ask is around 7. So anything north of 7 is actually well out of the leafs ability

I realize you're just exaggerating for effect but in what world is William Nylander worth an elite player and one of the best in the league, plus a promising top 6 winger, and a first. Backstrom is worth much more than Nylander alone sooooooooo

Not sure if you are a caps fan or not, but v is on the second line at LW....that's his spot. he has passed burk on the depth chart. Don't know who the 7th D-man will be (Bowey or Oprik) but it will def not be djoos. Djoos is an every game starter and it will either be bowey or orpik on the other side of him.

Guys I'd consider trading Andre Burakovsky for
Obviously Burk shows flashes of great talent, but he has been a really frustrating player because he cannot seem to make that jump to consistent 2nd line play. You point out that Burk had more points per game than Vrana did in the playoffs, but if you were watching the playoffs (which I'm sure you were) you could see vrana being a force almost every shift. High-end speed, and he was flying all over the place and was ringing the post again and again. He was playing out of his mind but just was not showing up on the stat sheet. Things can change obviously, but Vrana has (as of now) surpassed Burk on the depth chart. Burk could turn that corner, don't get me wrong, but I believe the emergence of Vrana has made Burk expendable. Yes, Burk came in clutch at times during the playoffs, but he also was incredibly predictable on the puck. He flys down a wing, takes it 3/4 of the way into the zone and slams on the brakes. He often would get the puck poked or would actually slip. Stats are important, but looking at the tape, Vrana was in a different gear than Burk. Side note: Vrana knows how to get a shot on net, which Burk has not been able to do consistently.
Bowey had 12 even strength points, but most of them were secondary assists that resulted from him just dumping the puck off to someone else who passed to the goal scorer. I do remember he had one incredible stretch pass to Chandler Stephenson that set up a goal. But, he has not looked great in wall play and often times will get beat in board battles. So that is why I feel that pointing out the number of ES points he had compared to other players might not actually reveal a whole lot in his favor. I'm sure we can all agree his shot looks great and he has great size, but I'm not sure the talent is there to become a top 2 guy. I do think he could sneak into the top 4 of a d-core, but I must admit, I am not confident. I think now is a time to maximize his trade value. But, he is still young, and I hope I am proven wrong. I'd love to see the guy succeed, but I also don't wanna lose out on getting value from him. Going into last season, I was really down on Wilson (and I loved being proven wrong by him). Let's hope something similar can happen.
Ultimately, looking at the stats for both Burk and Bowey can tell a story, but I am not sure it is the most accurate story that projects where their careers could be going. If you just watch the tape and see how Burk and Bowey play compared to say, Vrana and Djoos, there are major differences that set them apart, despite all being young. The way Bowey generated points was merely from him being on the ice Burk has those flashes and that is awesome, but inconsistency has always been the problem. When you look at V and Djoos, you can see those are guys that could have gotten way more points, but were robbed by the post or limited because of ice time.
That's my two cents on Burk and Bowey.
