Its likely an offseason move for any potential playoff team if the price is a roster player and pick due to the fact that JP is ineligible to play this year

Trades to make us better for the playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sign_em_up000000</b></div><div>I get what you're saying, but I think you need to pump the brakes a little bit on Dermott. Generally, most d-men need 300 games to know what they are and dermy is only at 139, so he hasn't even hit the halfway point yet. This isn't to say we don't have a general idea of what kind of player he is, just that he's still young and growing and with that comes growing pains and learning experiences. I'm fine with moving him out especially if we can find a partner for Rielly but a lot of people on here seem to think he's a finished product which couldn't be farther from the truth.</div></div>
I never said anything about trading him. I said he may find himself in the press box. I also said i see potential in him. I could see Dermott becoming a top 4. My point was he has done nothing during this entry level contract to convince any hockey person that he is more then a 5th or 6th so far. That could change in a week, month ,year , two years. At this point Sandin has outplayed him for that final left side spot. However that could also change in a day ,week, month,

Trades to make us better for the playoffs
This fan drivin hate of at least one player a year is comical. His cap hit aside he has preformed well and has earned his role in the lineup. For me Morgan Rielly was underwhelming all year. Then i was informed of his injury he had all season and it made alot of sense. Everyone is in love with Travis Dermott who i see some potential in. However he hasnt done anything to prove he is anymore then a 5 or 6 defenceman in the league. He skates well but inefficiently at times. There isnt a whole lot that is smooth about his game. My point of all this is its Dermott that may find himself in the press box when Rielly returns not Ceci. Sandin has outplayed Dermott for that left spot next to Ceci.

LEAFS ACQUIRE JUMBO
If the Leafs talk to SJ it will likely involve Marleau and Thornton. I have been fans of those two their entire careers. Two hall of famers for sure that deserve one more shot at a title. It would probably give the leafs room a huge boost which means something however does it really make the Leafs a better team ? Maybe Marleau Thornton spezza 4th line is better then what we currently have ? This would be a deal the Leafs need to be careful of. It may win the hearts of fans who might love the idea but most certainly the leafs would be giving up controlled assets for no controlled assets further diminishing the future depth of the hockey club.

An actual plausible realistic deadline cuz they are going for it
I would rather Cody Ceci then Russel. Ceci has been playing well and has earned bottom pairing and special teams time. The only way Ceci moves is if its in a deal for say a higher end top pairing guy and his salary needs to move in order to facillitate the trade.

I really think Josh Manson would fit perfectly on this Leafs team and in my opion the Leafs max offer would be close to this. The question is would Anh accept? At this point/offer i think they keep him. With that being said he is exactly what the Leafs are looking for in skill set, contract value, term and age. 28 years old is no spring chicken to start a rebuild with

without trades next year
I have been posting on this site saying that maybe patient's is still the best course of action. This post proves that even without a trade the Leafs are a capable hockey club. Not that this is an overwhelming cup contender but still very much a playoff capable team.

This is what i thin Dubas should do
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MG1986</b></div><div>Normally, I would probably agree, but the pressure of our division, and specifically from Florida, since I doubt the Leafs will catch either Tampa or Boston, might make the Leafs' GM do something, or multiple somethings, in order to try this team into the playoffs. Problem is, between a rash of injuries, bad/slow starts to games, nights where certain players just don't show up, there are potentially a lot of holes in this lineup need filling. Your argument is no rentals because rentals take away future assets, and I would agree, which is why I think you will see the Leafs make more of a hockey trade, where the Leafs may give up something significant but gain something significant and controllable in return.
The question for you, what happens when the Leafs aren't active from now until the trade deadline and miss the playoffs? Good teams have missed the playoffs before, and I think Toronto badly underestimated how improved Florida would be, along with quite a strong Metro division.</div></div>
I understand the pressure to make the playoffs this year are crazy. However its probably more harmful to Dubas career then to the teams future success. Its very clear our defense prospect development is behind our fwd prospect development by a few years. If Sandin and Lilgegrin were both 25 years old would we be having this conversation. I agree with your hockey trade comment and that course does seem likely. My concern is that we are thinking the Leafs are ready to win now and i dont think they are. What are the Leafs? Ive watched every game and still see a diffent team almost every game. The rebuild of the Fwd group and the goalie is done but their defence is far from having stable consistent Leafs on term contracts and its proving to be a huge problem. With that being said February isnt the time to rebuild a d core and expect consistency.

19-20 PENS - Now to Deadline Trades - NJD - TOR - NYR - MIN
In regards to the Leafs trade. While i agree that the value is close. The Leafs get a backup who theoretically wont play a game in the playoffs and a prospect who very clearly has NHL potential but also dosnt help them this season. In my opion this looks more like an offseason trade the Leafs might look at but as of now the Leafs are more then likley looking for more immediate help on defence

Absolutely sweet **** all. Big mistakes are made at the deadline every year. I think its becoming clear that the Leafs are in fact good enough to make the playoff but are they a top cup contender that should sell the farm this year. This team has gone through many changes this year the latest being the head coach. All the big contracts have loads of term so whats the panic this year. A patient season and busy offseason may be the best course of action. But we all know how crazy and impatient us Leaf fans are.

The Boston deal makes alot of sense. Important salary dump for them and they lose a late 1st rounder. Edm would also take a serious look at that deal. Brown played on a line with Mcdavid in the OHL and pageau is a scoring winger that Edm clearly needs.

A 2nd round pick has a 5% chance of playing an NHL game. Almost the same % chance as a 3rd or 4th.
The post is more about the player Gudbranson with the Leafs and not what goes back and fourth in the trade. Make it an 18th round pick in 2049 for all i care. The post/question is would the leafs be interested in him

Haha there are rumours moving around online about a trade involving ceci and Gudbranson. Im just a fan of Gudbranson. Ultimately u are going to have fans who like players with Gudbransons style and still think its needed in the playoffs and fans who dont like this style and think in old thinking.
Paul Maclean told me a couple years back " people think the game has changed and it has. But when the new season starts (playoffs) the game hasnt changed that much".

Then take out the pick or one of the players from the leafs side. Im not sure if the Leafs would even be interested in Anderson at this point. If we think about it he wasnt in the lineup for the Rangers so why would it be a better opportunity with the Leafs. I can definitely see the Leafs being interested in a goalie with NHL experience however. If i were the Rangers my first call would be to Edm to ask about their disgruntled 4th overall prospect

Im not sure any of these deals make the Leafs a better team. With the exception of the NYR deal. Im not sure if the 4th and Bracco gets its done. I guess it would depend on how high the Rangers are on Bracco.

He played 82 games in his first year in Vegas and was the highest scoring defenseman during that year. He may have been scratched in his second season but correct me if im wrong he also had a minor injury during that time.
Speaking of scratches moore is going to be one when he gets back hell he may find himself out of the lineup the way the current roster has been playing.
Wouldnt trade a 4th liner for a dman that scored 41pts in the NHL a couple seasons ago. WOW

Colin miller 65 games played 29pts
He was arguably one of Vegas's best defenceman during their run to the finals.
Once he moved to Buffalo it went bad in a hurry. Its very clear its not the right situation.
If he was moved to an already established team like Toronto he would be in the top 4 for sure and most likely next to Rielly.
So your saying a bottom 6 winger who the Leafs have been the best team in the league without him in the lineup and a postion that the Leafs have the most depth in their organization wouldnt be traded for a potential top 4 defenceman. A player who has produced at a high level has stanley cup final experience. So again you are absolutely out of ur mind if u think Dubas wouldnt love this deal. Moore must be from your hometown or something

Trade values are hard to nail down for depth players that im not 100% familiar with. So ya likely adjusted values. My main points is the type of player the leafs are looking at or should be and not affecting the current roster with the exception current bottom depth guys in Ceci and Timashov. Im not on the i hate Ceci train and i think he is fine in his current role however looking at it strategically moving his money in order to aquire more depth is something i would accept

If the Leafs want Domi then they would have to pay something similar to this simply because the Habs have no need or want to move him so their socks would have to be blown off. As it sits right now Habs win this trade.

Yes the question was what do the leafs think his value is? I think the leafs value him around a 3rd. I agree that the leafs wont get that for him but again i think thats how they have him valued. That would be why i stated it doesnt make sense in a trade for picks. But a team with a pending ufa would be crazy not to ask for Bracco if the leafs called. Its such an easy trade to make for both sides

Its just an easy deal to make if ur the Leafs. Addressing his value as far as picks go is useless from the Leafs point of view. Leafs will be looking for depth/rental players as the trade deadline comes and Bracco plays into that situation nicely. Team trades a pending UFA for Bracco and a late pick. He then plays NHL games for that team as a tryout if u will.
