Cash rules everything around me
Would take more than that for Kuemper, especially at 50% retained. Yotes don't have cap space and Hossa is just an LTIR contract, heavily backloaded so they aren't paying him that much anyway, and I'm assuming he's insured for at least part of that. This isn't really worth it for them.

Opening Night Roster
Engvall (and about a million dollars of his cap hit) can be buried in the minors without having to clear waivers. He's going to have to be amazing to make the opening night roster. Ditto for Robertson. I don't think either make the opening night roster.
Their spots are likely taken by Barabanov and Vesey. Because they were recruited. And they were recruited to play in the NHL. If you don't give Barabanov a proper chance to be an impactful NHL player, it will make signing other European players in the future much more difficult.
Also, as I mentioned with Engvall, there are waivers to consider. Vesey is not waiver exempt, and the Leafs are not paying him 900k to sit in the press box.
Injuries happen. Scratches happen. These players will all get a chance. There's no rush to get them to the NHL, and no rush to get Engvall expansion exposed eligible.
Of course this is just my humble opinion.

Leafs done Pens fan opinion
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Austerity</b></div><div>What a cultured take. I hope the pens can make good use of Kapanen with Malkin or Crosby.
I do think Barabanov is NHL ready, although it's not a big deal if he isn't: Robertson, Vesey, Anderson, Barabanov, Engvall, Korshkov, Brooks, maybe even Petan can all compete for those last few roster spots.
.think Dubas had a very strong offseason. I wish we had one more bona fide top 4 defenseman, but I still think this team should at least make the second round. Way more well-rounded than previous iterations of the Dubas leafs.</div></div>
Ahh, I disagree about Barbanov. That’s a tough ask for a contending team. 2 players that never played one game in the NHL. A lot of faith.
And it drives me crazy when I even see leafs fans with Robertson on peoples 4th line. No way they bring up their top prospect, to play on the 4th line. Like I said, in the description, he has to atleast get 3rd line minutes and 2nd team PP minutes. He needs to be on the PP to get his full value too. He will stay in the AHL if he isn’t atleast on the 3rd line.
It’s almost as bad as when Pens fans put Guentzel on the 1st line with Crosby..lol. They want to break up our best line Guentzel/Malkin/Rust. Who have been together mostly for the last 2 years. And when they tried Zucker on Malkin line last year it was a disaster. Zero goals, 2 points. 6 goals, 10 points on Crosby’s line(6 goals and 12 points in 14 games with the Pens). It’s gonna be Zucker/Crosby/Kappy for sure. Crosby has been carrying his own line for years so if Kappy or Zucker don’t step up then it’s nothing new. But no reason to break up an already settled and great line Guentzel/Malkin/Rust. Rust 27 goals and 56 points in 55 games last year. A point per game. Ya, let’s break that line up..lol.

Toronto Maple Leafs signed Ilya Mikheyev (2 Years / $1,645,000 AAV)
I expected 1@1.450. The fact that we got an extra year for just a tiny bit more is near miraculous. This is a phenomenal contract.
Edit: Oh my god I'm gonna nut

I did a little bit of math. In Canada, you can get a 4 pack of Campbells soup for just shy of 7 dollars. With Mikheyev's new contract of $1645000 per year, he is able to purchase over 940 000 cans of soup. The soup man is officially souped out.... if it is his fuel, look out

Banking on him getting back to 2018-19 form, I see. Extreme risk and I really can't say I like this. Could be another David Clarkson. At best I see this being barely market value, can't see how it could turn into a steal.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CanesTings</b></div><div>Waddell will not trade a first for a rental, it’s that simple. I’d bet he’d be much more willing to part with that first for a better goalie with term like Kuemper</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>etpeck</b></div><div>Kuemper gets a first because he has 2 years left and has been better than Anderson over the last 2 years.
Murray won’t get a first but it could at least be argue that he has won 2 cups
Anderson has won nothing, has 1 year left on his deal, and has been inconsistent. All of that means there is 0 chance ur getting a 1st
The canes were interested in a deal where Mrazek went back the other way. There is 0 rumors saying they are interested in trading a 1st for Anderson</div></div>
I have it set really that Andersen would have an extension in place. Also you call Andersen inconsistent, but he has been by far one of the most consistent goalies in the league over his career.
