I'm undecided on this deal for Tampa Bay. Columbus and Detroit both win, though, IMO. The Wings get a 4th for an AHL upcoming UFA and taking some cap that'll be gone after this season. CBJ gets a great return for a rental.

The Graves and Compher trades are bad. I get what you’re doing but Graves for a 3rd and a guy that is an AHL dman for the Avs, nah. And what you really did was swap Bowers for Borgstrom (a loss imo), McDonald for Hajek (a loss), and lost Graves, Compher and Donskoi for a 3rd and 4th. No bueno. Love former Pioneers but it sure looks like Borgstrom isn’t an NHL player, Hajek gets destroyed in shot metrics a career 39.8 CF%. Love the creativity but not the moves.

But yeah I like the idea of establishing values just don’t agree with some of the assesments

Seems like a lot for the Avs to give up. I dont think Nash would crack the starting roster unless there were injuries and Compher+Bowers+3rd seems like a lot for Driedger. Id rather just move a 3rd for Reimer or Bernier and keep the extra assets, plus we wouldnt downgrade Compher to Nash so the F core would be better for this year

Check his advanced stats, he is killing it defensively, the lead forward on the pk and since they moved him to 3C between Donskoi and Nichushkin that line has started to produce offensively. He is dirt cheap ($875k), and is almost guaranteed to be protected in the XD so <a href="/users/Foppa21" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Foppa21</a> isn’t exaggerating “Not for sale”.

I initially thought no, but in looking at his contract, its a $4.5m cap hit, but it was kinda front loaded. He is paid $3.25 million in actual cash this year and the last two years of the deal. Ottawa loves those lower cash than cap hit deals and I'm sure it makes him less onerous to add for a mid market team who could use the the help.

Agree. It's probably best to simply go after a solid backup like Bernier.

CBJ definitely gets the dub on this one. They get a great prospect in Newhook, some depth in Compher, and a late 1st.

COL gets a reliable backup in Merz, a great secondary scorer in Jenner, and a solid middle pair Dman in Savard, but CBJ gets the better out of this one.

Yeah that’s entering Nashville territory with 4 #1 D. Pelech and pulock are #1s but it will be another year before Dobson gets to that level.

Toews is a great Dman. Not flashy but he’s effective.

I agree, Graves and Donskoi probably wouldn't be too hard to move and probably have decent value too. Compher is the one you want to move one way or another.
