That Pit trade is terrible. Bjugstad is a straight up cap dump and they just paid over a 1st for Montour.</div></div>
I didn't make the trade. I'm using the article's trades.
From what he wrote, it seems that its to allow Cozens to start at wing and work his way into Center.

Thoughts on this Sabres fans
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stanley_Cup_To_Manhattan</b></div><div>Buffalo laughs at PIT and TB offers</div></div>
Quote from the linked article:
I like the idea of Bjugstad because I’d put him on a line with Dylan Cozens. I can start Bjugstad at center and it allows Cozens to get his feet wet in the NHL playing on the wing. It’s less responsibility out of the gate and he can focus on creating offense. Then as the season moves along he can transition to center and Bjugstad can move to the wing. This is the same path that the Chicago Blackhawks used with Kirby Dach this season.
Montour’s name was in the news this week with the rumor that the Sabres may not extend him a qualifying offer. That leads me to believe his value is low on the market as an arbitration-eligible restricted free agent that is only one year from unrestricted free agency.
Getting a third line forward and mid-round pick should be seen as a success at this point even though it’s a far cry from the price the Sabres paid to acquire him.
TB Trade:
They have other players like Mathieu Joseph, Taylor Raddysh, Alex Barre-Boulet, and Mitchell Stephens that can play the same role as Verhaeghe.

This is a trade proposal by the Sabres SB nation:
Sabres acquire Nick Bjugstad (C/W) and a 2020 fourth-round pick from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Brandon Montour (D)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TooMalevolent</b></div><div>Yeah I just think Montour is a bad choice. I would look to move that JJ contract somehow and maybe see if a team would take someone like Hornqvist. Find a bottom Rd guy in free agency, and maybe even upgrade upfront in free agency- maybe one of those Florida guys. I still don't understand why this team made that Kahun trade.</div></div>
Oh man I agree. That kahun trade was downright terrible.
I don't think we should move hornqvist. He's still a decent player and getting a small return for him would only hurt this team more.
He's one of our main powerplay guys too

Everything I have heard about him is that he is a great guy, but buddy is a black hole. Now you have to drag a good dman like Marino down by playing him with JJ. Marino should be going against top comp, which you can't do if you play him with JJ. Also with Montour, that 2nd pair will bleed chances.</div></div>
well its either he bleeds less chances on the 2nd pair or he gets dragged into oblivion on the 3rd pair with JJ.
It's pretty much a pick your poison scenario lol

I really think it's GMJR telling Sully to play him to not plummet his trade value (even though his value is negative)

I think so. With Letang getting older, a guy like Montour could be better positioned to take more minutes and give Letang a break.
I don't think its ideal to run Letang 25+ minutes a game anymore

I don't think they'll do it unless they're really desperate to shed salary. But even in this scenario, Bjugstad off the books next season gives them enough space to extend Marino

Its tough to gauge where they're gonna be at.
The pens probably look for a 3C if they're trading hornqvist. It doesn't have to be jenner.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ajp_18</b></div><div>Columbus doesn’t need wings though. I’d expect Jenner to resign, If Folingo decides he wants 5+ again I be you could see Jenner named the captain of the jackets.
The thing about the trade is Hornqvist doesn’t being anything Columbus already has in folingo, Jenner or Anderson. He’s a middle 6 forward (better suited for 2nd or 3rd line) and hes a wing. Columbus biggest need is at Center and trading the guy who’s been playing the role of 2nd line center isn’t making Columbus any better. IMO Jenner is a 3rd line center who can fill as a 2nd line center. This trade doesn’t make much sense for Columbus to make unless the 2nd is like 35th OA.</div></div>
At that point, I think the Penguins try to stay competitive but the roster doesn't age well. So Columbus is keen to taking a chance on the 2nd round pick being a high 2nd.
I also think Columbus is a playoff team at that point and hornqvist is still netting around 20 goals/45-50 points.

Also would Honqvist even wave for Columbus?
Doesn’t really matter we don’t want his cap hit for a not really needed wing.</div></div>
I think it really depends if they think Jenner is gonna re-sign. He's basically UFA at that point.
Columbus gets an extra year of hornqvist + a 2nd/prospect to take on the extra cap hit. But hornqvist is still usable as a top 6 forward with PP1 net front presence.

Sam Bennett has 12 points in 52 games in his 5th NHL season. There isn't much more to see here and any team taking a chance on him is hoping he breaks out. He will most likely be a bottom-six forward who could slide into the top 6 when needed.
Bozak wins near 55% of his faceoffs and would be a pretty decent upgrade at 3C

Sam Bennett is pretty terrible so I have no idea why Calgary fans think they lose this trade.
