NSH says take out the 2nd or Tomasino. I also assume the deal include Marner waiving and signing an extension in NSH.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Canuckfan98</b></div><div>Well idk who is trading a number 1 centre rn, Nashville needs game breaking offensive talent and Marner would be your best player ever and he would most likely re-sign due to the fact you can offer him 8 years or you do have the cap space to offer 11-11.5 million dollars.
As for the trade package Saros is a given but goalies do not have high trade value in this league idk why but it’s the reality, Sissons is a 3c who can play up once in a while, and Kemmel is a nice top6 RW but he will never be as good as Marner. So in order to get Marner who is a RW you might as well get rid of the RW prospect who gets pushed out the lineup.
A player like Marner being available is rare and only happens once every few years imo Nashville would be smart to jump on it.</div></div>
Trotz won't do that. Goalies don't have much trade value, but that is because goalies of Saros's caliber don't get traded almost ever. To Trotz, Saros might be moved for a big piece like Marner, but the package won't be Saros, one of NSH's top 3 prospects, and one of the few centers they do have for another winger. That package gets moved for a top 5 pick or an already established 1C.
If NSH goes after Marner, Saros might be included, but it won't include other top prospects. It will include picks instead.

You have to be kidding with that NSH deal. NSH blocks your number if that is what it takes for Marner. That is a ludicrous ask from NSH perspective for a guy who isn't guaranteed to sign in NSH. The big issue with Marner to NSH is twofold.
1. NSH isn't going to give Marner the money he wants. Marner would have to sign a contract in NSH making the same he is now of 10mil even and have to consider the better taxes his increase. I can't see Marner realistically doing that.
2. Marner is a winger, and NSH has a several talented RW's in system. Are any of them to the caliber of Marner? No, but it becomes a rich get richer situation, and shouldn't be willing to do move arguably their best player in Saros and best assest on top of of one of their best prospects when their need for a top 6 center couldn't be more obvious when NSH send O'Reilly and Sissons as their top 6 centers in the playoffs

NSH declines. NSH isn't moving Evangelista for anything. That is the equivalent of TOR moving Knies. NSH is willing to move Saros, but Marner is not the ideal return for Saros, despite how good he is, and that is a lot to give up for a RW when NSH has Kemell and Wood coming up as early as next year. Neither are as good as Marner, but they can still play in the top 6. NSH should be moving Saros for a center, not a RW

I won't discredit the possibility of something like that happening this off-season, but it's not a move I think NSH makes right now. Some other big moves would have to happen from within NSH before a deal like that could happen

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JZ_DAL</b></div><div>are you a NSH fan? it’s weird, alot of ppl tell me (OTT fans) that NSH wouldn’t do it, do you think they’d also take on Korpisalo if we added a pick or Sogaard?
I always tell them NSH doesn’t have a C in there organization to what Norris can be, yes the contract is risky so idk if they’d do it that was my issue</div></div>
I am a NSH fan, but I am also higher on Norris than most, so I am definitely an outlier. I agree with you I think NSH needs a center that has Norris's talent, and I personally be willing to take Norris, even though the contract is risky. I think Norris would fit very well into the system and their wouldn't be pressure for him to immediately come in and be the number 1 because of O'Reilly who could also help mentor him, which he hasn't had in OTT, because the team is so young. The western conference is also a bit less physical than the eastern conference so that would also play to NSH's advantage.
NSH won't take Korpisalo unless you are willing to add something genuinely unreasonable (like OTT's 2024 1st). So, no.
Part of the hesitance I think is that NSH has already seen their fair share of star players who are injury prone and I think many are sensitive to injury issues (Forsberg has played an average of 61 games per season for the last 6 years, this year was the first time he played a full 82 games since his sophomore year in the league).

I would say TOR is a good partner if they are willing to move Cowan, as Cowan looks to be exactly what NSH would want. On top of that Cowan and Evangelista played in London together for a brief time, so there is already a relationship between two players that would make the transition a bit easier.

I'd do that. I know Norris has his health issues, but that would be a good return for Saros as NSH needs the center skill desperately and with Svechkov not far behind, Norris and Svechkov could form a strong core down the middle. Worse case is NSH just moves Norris to the wing.

This is the cheapest deal I've seen for Marner, and if he signs a contract in NSH somewhere between 9.5-11 mil per year, then NSH might do that.

Korpisalo makes this a non-starter. If you want to throw in Norris as well, then NSH might consider this. Korpisalo is a really expensive back up at best for NSH and has negative value no matter where you stick him.

Trotz has already started contract conversations Saros (started back in October). Trotz has already said he has every intention of signing him him, and if Saros doesn't sign then why would Trotz trade him now? He could hang onto Saros till the deadline and trade him at the deadline instead when he can get more for Saros.
With pick order coming out trading Saros for a middle six forward and 23OA isn't going to be enough for Saros as Trotz has said he wants more for Saros, and I don't see Trotz coming down from that price. NSH has been prepared to throw the bag at Saros, but Trotz has been playing all of the contract/trade discussion and speculation close to the chest.

NSH says swap Ziemmer with Spence and I'd do it. As much as NSH wants a top 6 center for Saros that would be a deal I'd consider given how badly NSH needs depth scoring and Moore has shown he can fit into that role well for NSH playing in the middle six. NSH doesn't need anymore RW prospects as they already have a ton of them (Evangalista just moved up, but also Kemell, Wood, and Tomasino)
Spence fits more into NSH's system and is a good longer term spot in the top 4 alongside Ufko and Molendyk while allowing them to pursue another big fish RD like Montour

NSH says swap Minten for Cowan and then NSH will start negotiating the deal. NSH has players of Minten's caliber in system, so their is no reason for NSH to trade their franchise goalie for a player they effectively already have in system. They need someone who will project as a top 6 center. NSH isn't going to move Saros for less, as said by Trotz.

NSH declines. Huge overpay for a guy who isn't going to be in NSH beyond next year. NSH isn't going to give Marner the money he wants, and NSH doesn't need RW's. Marner is great, but if NSH is moving Saros it is going to be for a top 6 center at this rate.

My turn as Torontos President 2024 off season
NSH likely is going to decline. Evangalista was one of our best players, and I won't argue that Marner is a superstar, but NSH isn't going to give him the money he wants.
NSH isn't trading someone they just resigned and one of their top performing rookies for rental, especially when NSH has other high performing RW's in system they just have to wait for in Wood and Kemell.
With Kemell likely to make the lineup next year, I just don't see Marner being a good fit in NSH.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leaffanio</b></div><div>that's fair although i think marner's superb defensive game makes him a little more valuable than a typical winger. evangelista is a great prospect who i think could become anywhere from a 60-80pts player but marner is just an echelon above that.
montour could be an interesting pickup for nashville but i think considering you're halfway rebuilding right now getting a #1 rhd through the draft would be the ideal outcome for the preds. by the time you're in a genuine contention window montour would likely be on the downturn.
it really depends on if trotz wants to base his return off current positional need or not, as i think the chances of the preds getting a better return for saros than marner purely from a value perspective is unlikely</div></div>
The piece I would personally like to see as a return for Saros would be Mercer + some picks. Not going to say no outright to Marner, but NSH has 1 top 6 center in system with Svechkov who did really well in his first season in the AHL, and 1 potential top pairing RD in Ufko, but he just finished college and played in his first AHL games this season.
Both are still unrefined and probably need at least 1-2 more years just to get used to the pace of NA pro hockey. Getting Mercer and Montour in my mind would be good as it patches the holes the team needs now while providing a more clear path for succession as time goes on as Josi and Montour will likely go out around the same time making room for Ufko and Molendyk.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leaffanio</b></div><div>he'd probably take a shave off that since taxes are presumably better in nashville than toronto and he gets to play in a low pressure environment with his buddy ror. lets say he falls between 11-12, why wouldnt nashville give him that? are they up against the cap?</div></div>
NSH might give him 11. NSH has plenty of cap (about 19mil), and taxes are better in NSH, as their is no state income tax, but they have several RW prospects that arent far away or in the case of Evangalista, just finished his rookie season. The bigger thing is that NSH desperately needs a top 6 center and a 1RD, and they really don't have one in either category that will be ready till at least 25-26 to step into those shoes. Because of that, I expect NSH to be in on Montour during the offseason, especially given the Burnette connection. Meaning if Saros is moved it's likely for a center.
I wouldn't rule out Marner, as a line of Forsberg - ROR - Marner sounds great, but I just don't think Trotz pulls the trigger on moving Saros for a player NSH already has an abundance of talent in.

NSH doesn't make that trade. Less to do with value or anything, and more to do with Marner isn't going to get the money he wants in NSH. NSH isn't giving him 13mil, so it doesn't make sense for them to trade arguably their best player for a someone who won't resign in NSH.

SEA likely declines. More because Wright seems to be stepping into his own based on the limited sample size from the end of the regular season. SEA likely wants to see him in SEA for a full season before deciding what next to do with him.
Between Wright, Berniers, and Goyette they have there top 2 centers, it's just a matter of who is where, but only time will tell.
