It's not too often a 'defensive defenceman' is as highly touted as Silayev, but he's deserving of a top five ranking for this draft, and could go as high as second overall. He's a massive defender who takes advantage of his stature, and long reach, to keep opponents away from his crease. He's also a fantastic skater who has no problem defending against a speed rush, or moving in and out of small areas with his excellent agility.
Silayev won't provide much offensively, but his ability to kill plays defensively and move pucks from his zone will contribute greatly to team success.

Has no issues with the pace of the game. Excellent skater for his stature. Capable with the puck. Doesn't project to contribute on the PP in the NHL - but should find a role on the PK and in key defensive match-ups.
Has some push back. Long. Rangy. Competes. Huge frame. Takes up space. Disrupts opponents. Reliable. Sound IQ. Will compliment a more offensive 'D' partner.

Silayev is a mountain of a man. He stands 6'7, weighs 207lbs, and he's only seventeen years old! By the time he stops growing, and fills out his frame, he could easily approach 225 - 230lbs.
Silayev is playing in the KHL. He's being used in all situations. Although his offense has dropped off recently, he continues to contribute in a variety of roles. His long reach, and huge frame, will assist him with his defending on the smaller ice surface in North America. What impresses most is his smooth skating stride is, and how agile he is walking the offensive blue line to distribute pucks or direct them on goal from range. Silayev has two assists in his most recent ten game segment. He's averaging between 13:30 - 15:40 TOI, which is very impressive for a seventeen- year-old defenceman skating in the KHL.
