Varlamov is a big part of the reason the Islanders find themselves in the playoffs. He's generally played the part of #2A / #1B this season - but his last ten game segment has been outstanding 8-1-0-1 record .930 save percentage 2.09 GAA Especially impressive stats considering the Islanders have struggled to kill penalties all season long and have the worst PK % (71.5) in the entire NHL Veteran goalie - Athletic - Active - Competes - Ability to steal games on occasion - Riding a hot hand at the end of regular season 23/2417 avr. 202420 avr. 2024

Thiesing signed with the NYI at the end of his 23/24 season at Ohio State His contract is a 2-year entry level deal. In 31GP he produced 9G-7A and was a (-9) defensively for the Buckeyes Somewhat surprising to see his goal scoring stats weren't higher when considering his quick stick / release in the offensive zone. When pucks arrive on his stick in high danger areas they are on and off very effectively and usually lead to positive results. Used is all situations at OSU. Primary ice at ES and PP#1. Quick out of the blocks. Has the 'darting quickness' to arrive ahead of opponents in small areas. Doesn't always play fast, however, and his off the puck attention defensively will have to improve to have a chance at being an NHL player. A bit of an 'enigma' who looks capable of going to another level offensively.9 mars 202423 mars 2024

LM
NYI - 4th round pick (98th) in 2022 A 2-way 'D' at the OHL level playing for London. All of his ice time comes at ES and PK Physically strong. Finishes his checks. Never backs down from contact. Good skater on straight lines Average puck skill. Average distributor. Not likely to provide much offense at the pro level. Execution, when distributing, ranges. Works. Competes. At this time he projects as a minor league recall / depth prospect.27 oct. 202331 oct. 2023

2-way 'D' Good feet Low risk defender who is most comfortable being used at even strength and the penalty kill Not much flash to his game overall A player who generally blends into the game - which is okay for his understated game Match-up / bottom pairing 'D' is ceiling30 avr. 2023-

Brings speed element Plays the game both quick and fast Best work / most impact / comes off the rush and in open ice. Tough to defend off zone entries when he has puck on his stick and skating at full speed. Average / average plus puck skill. Middle / Low bumper / crease areas tips and retrievals on the PP. Leans 2-way energy prospect who might contribute some secondary scoring30 avr. 2023-

Had his most productive season offensively in 21/22 A big body who moves very well . An open ice threat. He can produce off the rush. He can also create turnovers pressuring pucks up ice on the forecheck. Used mostly regular shift and on the penalty kill. His lack of physical element for his stature holds him back from more production and more of a complete game overall.21 févr. 202212 juill. 2022

A reliable 2-way 'D' who doesn't shy away from gapping up and finishing his checks. Bodies up well below his goal line. Battles around his crease to keep on the right side of his opponent. Not much in the way of offensive upside. Mostly simple with his puck play. D-zone starts aren't a concern. Depth prospect potential. Dennis doesn't have an elite element that projects him to be an NHL regular but he's on the fringes on many categories which gives him a chance.1 mai 202224 juin 2022

Another defenceman from Sweden who projects to be a solid 2-way 'D' at the NHL level. Calle is a powerful skater who is physically capable of handling weight along the wall and out front his net. He's hard to play against and doesn't give away space in his zone for free. A sound decision maker who makes a good first pass. Rarely looks to lead the rush on his own but is capable of doing so if space opens up. He projects to be a 'D' who takes a regular shift and kills penalties. Not likely a PP candidate.1 mai 202224 juin 2022

A 2-way 'D' who plays a mostly simple / low risk game. Moves pretty well. He's agile and has the ability to get to pucks quickly. Not overly physical. Capable with the puck. Outlets efficiently. His defending is reliable. There is room for him to be 'harder' on opponents in his crease area and win more battles. Being used at mostly (ES) and the (PK) at the OHL level in London.8 avr. 202213 avr. 2022

Big body defender. Right Shot. Used at ES and on the PK The learning curve is going to steep. Long way to go. He's adjusting to the quickness and small area defending required to be a prospect on NHL size ice. Everything is average or below at this stage. Too stationary on the PK and in his zone. Tough time keeping opponents to the perimeter. Puck play is low end of average. Chips off the boards and window. Does not appear to have any offensive upside moving forward.26 mars 202227 mars 2022

AVG TOI (19:50) Big body. Right shot Used ES and on the PK. His read/react is sound on the penalty kill. He identifies developing plays and gets in the lane to either block shots or interrupt the play with an active stick. Long reach is an asset. Skating is high end of average. Straight lines are fine. Pivots / Turns finding pucks are average. Physicality ranges. Not a punishing player for his stature but he will lean on opponents in the hard areas. Outlets are mostly responsible. He plays within himself. Mostly low risk.15 mars 202217 mars 2022

AVG TOI (14:05) Role player who is deployed at ES and on the PK. No issues at 4/4 if needed. He's not quite as quick as he once was but overall his pace is not a concern. His production offensively is decent considering he doesn't see the PP and his results have come mostly at ES. A hard working, honest, veteran who can slide into a teams 4th line and provide push back. Has never been easy to play against.15 mars 202217 mars 2022

Being used regular shift and on the penalty kill A physical, fearless, at times reckless defender who is highly competitive and sacrifices his body to deliver hits and battle in the hard areas. Opponents needs to be aware of him. He gaps up aggressively. His puck play has been somewhat erratic at times. There is room for much better execution. Keeping things simple is best. The kind of player who can compliment a partner who is more of a puck rusher Pretty easy to identify ... he is a 2-way / hard nosed / throwback 'D'21 févr. 202222 févr. 2022

A somewhat perplexing prospect. Moves well. Equally comfortable leading the rush as he is distributing pucks. In game he comes and goes. Needs to define himself and take charge for full 60 minutes. Leans 2-way / Transitional. Looks like he is capable of more offensively. Hockey IQ is not an issue. A competitive defender but he is light and struggles at times to defend heavier opponents who are agile.30 oct. 20211 janv. 2022
