Thiesing signed with the NYI at the end of his 23/24 season at Ohio State
His contract is a 2-year entry level deal.
In 31GP he produced 9G-7A and was a (-9) defensively for the Buckeyes
Somewhat surprising to see his goal scoring stats weren't higher when considering his quick stick / release in the offensive zone. When pucks arrive on his stick in high danger areas they are on and off very effectively and usually lead to positive results.
Used is all situations at OSU. Primary ice at ES and PP#1.
Quick out of the blocks. Has the 'darting quickness' to arrive ahead of opponents in small areas. Doesn't always play fast, however, and his off the puck attention defensively will have to improve to have a chance at being an NHL player. A bit of an 'enigma' who looks capable of going to another level offensively.
