It's not just about winning. He wanted to get out of Edmonton back in 2015 because he was living too far away from his family in Michigan. I doubt he wants to go back and the Oilers don't look much like a contender currently anyway.

Edmonton needs to stabilized their RD and playing with youth can make him accept to come back. Michigan to Edm is as closed than Mtl to Michigan...
and Edmonton need Pacioretty scoring ability and we won't take Davidson instead.

Why would the Oilers trade away their best defensemen and his amazing contract to get older? This makes sense for Montreal, but no sense for the Oilers, getting older is the opposite of what they need to do. Klefbom is a cornerstone piece of their core moving forward with McDavid and Draisattl.
