I seriously doubt the Leafs could afford Weber, Weber makes $7.8 million Marner and Nylander combined probably get around $7 million to $7.5 million each and Matthews close to $12 million per good luck.

I don't like it... Won't work with TO's cap, and those 1st round picks are not likely to be very high either. More than that though I think Mtl needs to kinda pivot from this roster, not rebuild everything. Price, Weber, and Drouin are still very legit players you can build around. Everyone else including and especially Patch and Chucky are expendable though.

Weber would be interesting; however, due to the term of Weber's contract I think the Leafs would have to say no to this.

I just do not think Weber would fit in Toronto.

Babcock loves him to death . He said to me this week that if Bergy want him out he will gladly take him ... We know each other from Mcgill ... The cap problem are not real since with Martin off the books , Weber won,t even finish his contract and the penalty goes to Nashville which would be intice to pay to have him back and not get cap space penalty over it .. so good value at 36 years old when is 3M contract isn't good for him ..

This contract need more than an overlook to understand . It was the Hossa , Kovalchuck kinda contract with an end which is clear that the veteran would'nt play was just for cap relief ...

Oh for sure I know Babs loves him, he can't say enough good things about him to the press based on his time with him at the Olympics and World Cup. I just don't like the move and return from the Habs' point of view. In my opinion Weber still has 5-7 years left of very good hockey and his leadership is off the charts. He can remain the pillar on defense for a while longer, and if we revamp the forwards and maybe find a more legit partner for him to play with, he'll still be good to go after those changes are made (hopefully soon).

I guess it is lucky that Babcock doesn't make trade decisions for the leafs then..

Edit: they are the first round picks for the next 2 drafts. How is that far away?

Far in the draft i mean ... this mean to prospect with a 30% chances of making the show , and im not talking about making an impact ...

I really find these type of posts "dishonest". The author must know the Leafs have cap issues...this year, next year and maybe even in 2019/20. But the author takes the easy route and doesn't make a Leafs roster, he sticks to the easy showing the roster of the team getting the lesser cap.
Sorry you didn't the realism in Babcock's statement the other night. As coach he would like have Weber. But as a GM (and follower of cap rules) he won't or can't.
If Babcock goes into Chicago and says,,,Kane/Toews and Keith can play on my team does it make it any more realistic?

i admit sometimes fooling around but not this time ! This idea pop out of my brain even tho those are unnatural trade partner .If Toronto want to go for it now its a possibility , many options on payment ..
