Description
Boston adds exactly what they've been looking for, an exactly what's missing for them to become Cup Contenders, a top 4 dman (Faulk) to carry minutes along the older, Chara and Seidenberg...and a depth dman with experience (Shultz).
The bruins send grade A prsopect and regular NHLer in Pastrnak to the Canes, along with a young, depth dman in Trotman and one of the best goalie prospects in Subban, along with a first, allowing the Canes to throw in the salary retain.
As for Philly, they get two strong prospects (4 star) in Koko and Morrow, while sending back a guy they've been shopping around and a 4th rounder.
All in all, all sides win in these deals, Philly and the Canes get good young players, for guys they've been shopping around. While Boston acquires to strong dman in their quest to get back to the top.

As a cap strapped team. It's not a good idea to give up entry level contracts for big contracts. Also seems like a lot to give up for Faulk and salary retention for Carolina who is a budget team doesn't seem likely.

I love Faulk, but I'm not giving up Pastrnak for him. And as much as I don't think Khokhlachev and Morrow are going to be full-time Bruins, I don't think giving up two of your best trade chips for Nick Schultz makes sense.

So you're saying you'd prefer a POTENTIAL 1st line winger over a PROVEN top pairing RHD who's on an amazing contract? I would prefer the RHD.

It's not a lot to give up for Faulk if you are only paying the man 3.3M per year. Even without the retention.

Agree with DTN regarding Faulk. Good young Dman on nice contract....hard to find. Pastrnak, (to bad he's injured) what is his true NHL value? Subban, he may be the best Bruin goalie prospect, but it's a question if he will be an NHLer. Lots of goalie "prospects" out there.
