It is not a holdout. Pasta does not have a legal obligation to play for the Bruins, or do the Bruins have legal obligation to pay him. Pasta is just unsigned.

well no pastrnak is not just unsigned. Hes an RFA, with zero rights. He cant just go sign with any other NHL team, unless the bruins trade him or an offersheet happens. It is a holdout because the bruins retain his rights and are not obligated to trade him

The Bruins have obligations to hold onto to their right to Pasta which they met. I forget the exact amount but they have offered him contract with a raise. All players coming off their ELCs are entitled to this raise or else they are UFA, for NHL purposes. Pasta when he joined the NHL he should have known that his team technically has control of him for seven years. Bruins have met all obligations of the CBA, and so has Pasta. Pasta shouldn't feel hard done by, because the Bruins are fulfilling their obligations to the of the CBA. There's always Europe.

he wont get anywhere near the money in europe compared to the nhl. As i understand, this is more of a money problem and not so much Pastrnak not wanting to play for boston. Someone is going to give in.

Yes it is ALL a money problem. Pasta still wants to play in Boston. His team and teammates still want him to return. They both seem to want a long term contract as well. It's just where does the AAV land!!?
