Description

If you're counting the NHL roster numbers, Horvat is an unsigned RFA and thus could not be placed into the buyout list. This assumes Dorsett is healthy.

Notable names who don't have a spot waiting for them in the NHL: Virtanen, Goldobin, Boeser, Labate, Subban.

Players may win an NHL spot, but the Canucks would probably be forced to make a trade or risk waivers. It'll be easy to swap 2 D from this Utica roster with the NHL, but not so for forwards where Rodin/Gaunce/Burmistrov/etc. would likely be claimed off waivers.

Other prospects are playing in Junior or Europe

Competition in camp will be interesting, and so will how the team changes throughout the season due to injuries or at the trade deadline.

Besides the Sedins, Horvat and Tanev, there isn't much difference between Utica and Vancouver.

So Utica is set up to be a winning team this year. For the second time since the Canucks have had a farm team, and the last time it was a bunch of journeymen AHLers and Markstrom in the Calder finals.

Competition to watch would be last year's Calder Cup had 3 teams with more goals scored than allowed: DET/Griffins, TBL/Crunch, SJS/Barracuda.
There's fast turnover in the league with career AHLers wandering about and prospects that are only around a couple years.

Nice work goldie. Despite the logjam of NHL forwards I still think Boeser earns his spot on the club. Rodin is the likely odd man out, although the Canucks could easily send assign to Utica and hope another team claims him off waivers.
