Thomas Vanek has signed a new contract with the Vancouver Canucks.

That means 1 more guy working on his game in the AHL.
Salary only makes a difference to Vanek.

Payoff at the trade deadline better be there. Vancouver has had a lot of bad experience/luck with vets on short term deals not showing up later in the season.

Curious to see what the new coaches do with the Powerplay. More options at forward than can be used, so there should always be 2 units cooking with gas.

Good signing in terms of the possibility of getting something back for him at the deadline but I don't have much confidence that will surely happen; see Radim Vrbata... Bad signing because this takes away a spot from a prospect like Goldobin.

Keep Ken Holland's number on speed dial Benning, he'd take him back any time in a heartbeat once he clears some cap space.

You'd think he'd have gotten at least one better offer somewhere else.

this signing is "meh" but what is more shocking is they are more concerned with signing UFAs than paying the guy they expect to the face of the franchise for years to come. Sends the wrong message IMO.

Looks like a free draft pick at the deadline to me
