I'd be down for this. But Sekera is injured until January though.

It's looking like a next summer time deal to me he's showing the 2018/19 season.

Groan. Another RNH-Gallagher trade permutation, only worse. Why would Edmonton want to down-grade right when they're entering their Cup window?

You'll need a LOT more than a 1st to pull this off.

Yup didn't see that!

Btw come to the GM game if your interested. We need more AGM's! You'd be a full time GM in no time.

This is mind boggling to me. Leaving the Dmen out of the deal for a moment, EDM should run away laughing if they got Gallagher and a 1st for RNH. So many people on here waaay undervalue Gallagher as a player. He's a young, gritty guy that goes hard to the net and has elite possession numbers. Not saying he's an ideal top line winger, but RNH is only a 2nd line center.

But, the Dmen are part of the deal, and not equal parts either. So you can't just "take them out" of the deal and say it's a great deal. The fact is that Gallagher is a downgrade from Nugent-Hopkins and Schlemko is a huge downgrade from Sekera. The OP knows this, hence the 1st round pick added from Montreal's side. My point is (again, since you missed it) WHY WOULD EDMONTON WANT TO DOWN-GRADE RIGHT WHEN THEY'RE ENTERING THEIR CUP WINDOW? I get the cap concerns, but they don't need to shed $12M worth of KEY players next year. Schlemko would be 7th D at best (Klefbom, Russell and Nurse are all better LD than him) so he's worthless to the Oilers, whereas Sekera was their best defender last year (tie with Klefbom, IMO).

If the Oilers were in rebuild mode, the 1st might make it worth considering. But they're in win-now mode, so it's not nearly enough - especially since it'll be a late round pick that may or may not play in the NHL at all, and certainly not for several years.
