Description

Trouba deal gets done eventually. Short term life issues get trumped by parents in their ear about wanting their new grandchild close to home if they can make it happen.

Husso is either bought out during a 2nd window through arbitration (Berggren), LTIR’d, or traded with retention. Bought him out because it’s easiest.

Veleno attached to Holl to clear a spot for Kasper.

TLDR: plenty of offseason left. Everybody relax. Debrincat wasn’t even on the team at this time last year.

I actually think the Trouba boat has passed. He is clearing not a willing party and there's no point in acquiring an expensive asset that doesn't want to be there.

I think it’s very reasonable that he is taking time to sort through some very complicated life issues prior to giving the green light. Cant have a plan for his wife’s residency while having a new born in a couple of days. If Drury is dead set on moving him, it will eventually be to Detroit, as that would presumably be their long term choice as a family.

Still have a gaping hole at RD2. They basically ignored it in free agency, while overfilling the left side. It’s honestly the biggest reason I think they know they have a trade in place there, eventually. Maata makes sense for the Rangers on a one year deal.

Wasn't the whole motivation for NY moving him so they could create cap space for a big FA signing? I assumed since there are no big FA left the deal is dead.

Main motivation is to clear cap space to sign ALF and Shesterkin next offseason. They were in on Kane, and when they didn’t get him they filled that spot via trade with Reilly Smith. Like a lot of teams, I think they sniffed around on some of the bigger fish, but they can’t really do multi year deals right now with the players they need to sign in 2025.

I’ve thought about Ekblad. But after losing Montour, he is their only right shooting defenseman. I think they have to keep him unless a right shot is coming back. Don’t think it’s a fit, unless they want Holl 😂.
