Colorado has 2 goalies, 7 defensemen and 12 forwards -- including Gabriel Landeskog at his normal cap hit -- under contract and $3.89 million in cap space, so even without putting Landeskog on the LTIR list, they have plenty of room to fill the last two roster spots . . . why would the Avalanche downgrade from Ross Colton to David Kampf?

I like the Ross Colton Trade, he would be a solid and good fit for our 3rd line C spot.

problems:

1. McMann is better than Jarnkrok and earned a spot in our top 9 through his play last season. We did not sign him to play on the third line.
2. Jarnkrok SHOULD and better be traded by the beginning of next season. I've had enough of him and his time in Toronto, bye bye Calle.
3. Benoit isn't going to be the odd man out, the D parings should look like

4. Matthews and Marner shouldn't be playing together, it just hasn't worked. We can spread out our scoring by paring Domi on the RW spot on the top line with Matthews & Knies. This will allow us to put Marner with Tavares on the second line and Willy on the third or the opposite.

They aren't "trying to get rid" of anyone; they haven't traded anyone, have said and signaled they don't want to trade anyone and have been signing players. They have LTIR space they can use and Colton has a full NTC this season.
