You hate having the best defense in the league paired with a top five goalie?

I agree it seems a bit of an over signing for our needs. But it is a huge insurance policy for Lohrei and Injuries to the left side. We were really shallow going into next season and now we have one of the better defenses in the league imo.

We just really need for either Lysell or Merkulov to step up.

I think its just concern on overpay when we really needed to target scoring.

No I hate signing a 29 year old stay at home dman for 6 years at 5 million dollars to play on the top pair for 3 years max until lohrei fully develops and then have that 5 million dollars as an unmovable anchor on the bottom air. Thats what I hate.

exactly, we could have signed brannstrom, lunqvist or carrier for close to half the price and signed another top 6 forward to help out the core, now we have 8.8 million to sign swayman. People are trying to tell me we have 11.21 million but the math doesn't add up and CapFriendly tells me 8.8

Thats true, id be happy if it were even a million less, hell give me the same price at 3 years, 6 years is way too long. Either longer term for less money or less term more money not the sweeny way of more money and more term

As long as the deal doesn’t have an NTC it shouldn’t be difficult to move but in 5 or 6 years the cap is gonna be 100mil+

They went into FA with just over 23m

They were paying Forbort and Gryz $6.75M last season to ride the bench. They are paying less than $6M for Zadorov and Lohrei this season and they are a massive upgrade on the left side.

true but brannstrom would have been a better signing, younger, more room to grow, not so expensive. I am in no way saying i'd rather have forbort and grz because they stunk last year

All of those players are undersized and it would be like re-signing Gryz. Zadorov elevates an already great defense to potentially the best in the league. Carrier is pretty good but he re-signed with his team and did not change teams.

The Bruins are clearly intent on building a giant defense. McAvoy is now the smallest defenseman on the team and he plays a really heavy all-around game game. Brannstrom does not fit. He can skate and move the puck but is not a PP specialist. Lohrei is the Bruins puck mover now.

Where'd they get the 2 million from because when I looked the ullmark trade brought them up to that 21.3

Dont like that for lohrei especially because he's got the highest offensive upside on the team imo, that shot, those hands.
