Agreed - unless a pre-determined extension at a reasonable cap hit (i.e. $7.5-8M max, not the rumored $10M Konecny is said to be seeking), the Sabres wouldn't forfeit both Ostlund and 14OA for Konecny even if his style of play and offensive production is something they're lacking. Krebs for Laughton is a wash.

Maybe swapping Rosen for Ostlund levels the deal more evenly but the Konecny extension is the cloud hovering over the proposal for Buffalo either way.
