The NYI trade looks like a clear W for the Flames.

I'm okay with the Mangiapane trade, nothing special but I don't expect getting more than a 2nd back.

The OTT trade is pretty bad for CGY IMO. Andersson is worth the 7th + a 2nd. Sharangovich is worth a mid 1st, while Joseph is worth a 2nd.

As for the signings, that's way too much money for Kylington. And it's rumored that DeBrusk will be getting 4 x $5.5M from us.

You overvalue the pick IMO. If it turns out to be an Andersson then it would be a pretty good pick.

For the Islanders to take on Huberdeau (which I honestly am totally into), it'd have to be for Pageau, Lee, and maybe Mayfield. Take all our bad contracts for way fewer years (except Mayfield).

Honestly, not a bad thought.

Even if they took all of the Isles bad contracts in return I'm still not sure I'd want any part of Huberdeau's contract. Seven more years at $10.5MM for a 31-year-old guy who's scored 27 goals total over the last two seasons combined. He may have just hit the wall. Plus that contract is all signing bonus money so it's completely buyout proof.

Didn't know about the buyout proof part, that's certainly interesting. But I was always a big Huberdeau fan, and I'm a believer that it just sometimes doesn't work out with a team and he could bounce back. I'd be thrilled if that was with us, but it'd certainly be a risk.

I think Horvat and Barzal are better than any linemates Huberdeau has had in Calgary.

You also had another 2nd, which was a conditional 1st in there. Every draft is deep on draft day. We'll see in 10 years how deep it was. The 23, 25, and 26 drafts seem to be better than 24, but that's my opinion.
