What does draft position matter, once the players are in their 20s? Do you have regrets about the last former 7th rounder NSH traded to the Pens?

Lol, you mean the one that had nearly 400 NHL Games played already when he was traded to the penguins.... what a stretch at comparison.

Yes, that's a different story.

Del Gaizo has 9 NHL games, Parssinen has 89.

you can have a 6th rounder for both lol.

All I'm saying is draft position is a meaningless argument, multiple years after a player is drafted. Would you be more receptive if it was former 1st rounder Ozzie Weisblatt instead of former 7th rounder Pärssinen? You shouldn't be, because Pärssinen is the better player, with significantly higher NHL upside.

I don't necessarily think Pärssinen and Del Gaizo add up to a 2nd round pick either, at the moment. Ironically, Pärssinen himself would have been worth more than that a year ago, before he took a step backwards in his development under Brunette. I do see @AK50's logic, in making the Pens the offer. PIT is an old team with too many holes, that isn't ready to teardown yet. With next to nothing in the pipeline that can step into the lineup, this gives them a bit of a youth injection for now. Not worth a 2nd to you? Fair. It's still a significant improvement over Poulin and St Ivany, or whoever is next in line for a callup from Wilkes-Barre.

a 2nd round pick could be used to obtain a better prospect though. I'm not opposed to adding to the pool and neither is Dubas, but to say these two are significant improvements over poulin/JSI shows lack of knowledge of their prospect pool. Yes it's bad, but it's also improved over the past year. There are better things to do with a 2nd and again better prospects to be had for a 2nd.

Like I said already, I don't think PIT is getting the best value they can for their 2nd either. I only wanted to point out that trying to reduce Pärssinen and Del Gaizo to their draft positions was a bad argument.
