I see this as pretty fair value for both teams, dealing from individual strengths to solidify obvious weaknesses! I think both teams consider this!

rare we receive a realistic trade on this site, but this certainly is one. nice work. I suspect NJ would rather pass on TB, given length of contract or ask for a 2nd/3rd, in addition to Kylington for the burden. Shero is off 30 & overs now, unless one year contract. its a great idea & with the arrival Johansson, it's doable ... saying that, putting Kylington aside, a LD would be preferable for NJ. With DH on RD, they have Severson & Santini behind (s/b solid long term), with aging Greene & awfulness on Left.
Thanks again. interesting.

Thanks for the mention dude. My original thought when I made my trade proposal was Johnny gets to go closer to home, he'd be a god fit with Nico in their lineup. In return CGY gets a hometown kid back who would be surrounded finally with a decent lineup which would unleash his full potential. And they're pretty even contract wise so a straight hockey trade seemed to make sense.

Although I like the idea of bringing in Hall - home town kid - I seriously have to question all the comments about this being a fair solid trade???

Lets take a closer look...
- Lovejoy - although a solid defensive D-man he is 33 with only 2 years left and will be declining soon...
- Hall - A solid asset but with only 3 years remaining he will be up for a big raise as an UFA

- Hamilton - 4 years - absolute beast on the blue line coming of his best offensive season - and only 24!
(worth more than Hall + Lovejoy combined)
- Brouwer - with full cap hit helps even out this trade (if CLG retained any salary - say 750k year - we are done)
- Kylington - should be a 2nd pair d-man in 2 years - this makes this a massive over payment

All this being said would I and should Calgary trade Hamilton - NO he and TJ are the 3-4 year future of our blue line with 3 prospects to take over afterwards!

What would I pay for Hall - Johnny Hockey - but NJD would have to throw in a decent prospect or draft pick... say a 2nd and a conditional 2nd 2020 if Hall doesn't re-sign in Calgary.

OK, so for Larsson...Shero gets: Hamilton and Kylington! Of course NJ takes this.

But there is absolutely zero reason for CGY to make this trade. There are much cheaper options out there to add some scoring depth without having to sell the farm.

Also worth mentioning that Hall has missed 87 games over his 6.5 seasons (0.5 for lockout year). That averages to about 13 games missed per year, and that was while his body wasn't also facing long playoff runs. He's actually never played an NHL playoff game. Not interested in the player for anything close to the price shown.
