Because Husso is one year vs. 3 for Gibson. I personally wouldn’t do the trade at all, but Gibson at 6.4 is not a great contract.

He was. Why would you trade 15OA for a player that doesn’t want to sign there? If he gets moved during the draft it will almost certainly be at a slight loss.

Would take away the 2nd from Winnipeg and add Wallinder as well. Would rather have Rutger over Necas or Kane any day.

Think you answered your own question there, that's three years retention, and were perfectly fine sticking with our current tandem. Gibson at 6.4 might not sound great, but Husso at 5 is an outright cap dump, and then we have to go sign another goalie they year after when everyone is going to be looking for raises.

McGroarty is literally in the Red Wings backyard (U of M) and they know him very well.
