Pick values make sense if there is a player that falls towards end of 1st round that Hawks are interested in.

With the pick values being about even, I’d even make that trade now. We have so many picks that trading up for even value will nearly always make sense, and while there’s a chance there’s nobody we love at #24 it’s also possible somebody great falls to #24 and the Avs wouldn’t trade down on draft day.

NSH declines. Based on a recent interview with staff within the org, it looks like Tomasino is going to get a 1 year "prove it" deal and be in NSH. Tomasino being in MKE was more about improving his game and giving him more ice time to improve his 200ft game. Burnette likely just doesn't want him to be one-dimensional.

That gap is like no-mans land right now. The players at 24 could be equal grade to the players at 34. So honestly it makes more sense to wait until the draft. Then you start making offers to move up if a player is there.

My concern is, what if someone too good is still there? If Yakemchuk, Catton, Sennecke, or someone else who’s clearly a steal at 24 is still there, the Avs won’t want to make the trade necessarily. There’s risk either way.

Maybe 1 of those fall to Hawks at 18, and that is a big MAYBE. But no one either of those fall to 24,

I agree that it’s unlikely, but beyond them there’s less consensus on who will go where. Just because the experts don’t agree on who the 15th-18th best players are though doesn’t mean that the Hawks won’t have a big board, and so there’s always a risk that the Hawks’ 15th best prospect is available at 24 but the Avs like him too.
