I'm all over that deal. Ottawa has made the playoffs a total of zero times with Chabot. Time to clean house and move on. I'm a fan of Zamula as well (although I see I failed to sign him).

That doesn't mean you off load him on a whim. You have to manage your assets. Zamula and Laughton doesn't warrant Chabot and Joseph with a ~30 spot draft upgrade.

There is room for some retention if that is what would push the deal over the finish line.

I don't think this a whim at all. Outside of a few outstanding weeks of play, Joseph has not been an impactful player on our roster (as an aside I can't believe we traded Nick Paul still). Chabot is often injured and hasn't played to his contract IMO. With that said, you make a good point on the 1st rounder. I had the late Boston pick in my head. Draft picks need some work in my offer, but the base of Chabot/Joseph for Laughton/Zamula is something I would 100% be behind. Cheers.

Bruins probably do that only if you retain on Forsberg. If they take him at full price they only clear 2.25M in cap, which defeats the purpose

Just looking back @ some of the proposals for Ullmark to Ottawa and I'm shocked that Boston took Korpisalo's salary, even with $1 mil retained. Like you said here, it defeats the purpose of freeing up cap space for the Bruins. I wonder if they retain a bit of $ and trade him, or buy him out. Cannot see a scenario where he starts the season in a Bruins jersey.
