We’d prefer quality over quantity. Buffalo has to severely overpay to get Ottawa to trade him within the division even if he asked to be traded.

In the extremely unlikely event that we need to trade him, Ottawa would want a Matthew Tkachuk-like package for his brother Brady.

That would mean Buffalo would give up:


A Top 6 Forward
A Top 4 right shot Defenceman
A 1st round pick


Buffalo doesn't have all 3.

Ottawa declines.

1. Skinner is a cap dump and will not waive his NMC for Ottawa.

2. Clifton is not a Top 4 defenceman.

3. We can always trade Tkachuk to 1 of the other 30 teams for something better while Buffalo gets nothing.

Look at how the mat tkachuk trade worked out the vets aren’t what they thought to be

And wouldn’t u rather a boat load of top high end prospects for ur rebuild from the #1 ranked prospect pipeline

Weegar is fantastic though. A top4 / top pairing RD, would love him on the Sens. Huberdeau hasn't fit in though, for sure

That’s why I gave the sens a boat load of prospects and 2 good picks for their rebuild
1) sens are going to lose a top 10-15 pick next year or the year after
2) u can mold the prospects into the type of players the team wants

The trade return needs to include a young player the Sens can plug in now into the lineup. Sens aren’t rebuilding nor will they if they move Brady. They’d just use Quinn for example in the lineup for cheaper + the assets and go use the cap space in free agency

Greenway is only 27 and can play top 6 mins
Savoie has confirmed to make the jump to nhl next season
Rosen and ROUSEK both have nhl games under their belt
Don’t forget ott is going to lose a top 10-15 pick next year or the year after this helps make up for that

Plus all the trades and free agents who have went to ott haven’t worked out as of late or ott wants to move the player ( Chychrun)
