Why?

Right off the top, they run far away from off ice problems. That alone would do it, but more importantly, they will use that pick on defense. They already have talented young wingers falling out of their ears. They probably won't have room for all of them moving forward as is. Snuggerud, Stenberg, Bolduc, Pekarcik, Stancl, Robertsson, etc. That doesn't even include the still young Kyrou, Neighbours and Toropchenko. Meanwhile, there's only one legit top 4 D prospect in the organization.
