Compher doesn’t work. I’d gladly do Copp, but I think Yzerman would disagree with me.

If that doesn’t work then it’s gotta be a top prospect because a RH center is who the canes would want

A RH top-6 center is going to be the asking price for Necas and people just need to accept that

Veleno would be doable. I doubt Yzerman would sell him, but I’d be open to Rasmussen also. I’d love to find a deal without Walman. I don’t love trading him, but I was under the impression the Canes could use help there.

Well they do need a 3rd pairing LD, but I don’t think they want that to be the main return in a Necas trade

That can be the ask, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that is what they get. I like him a lot as a player, but I don’t think many teams are trading a young top 6 center for a wing. Wings feel like probably not the best fit from the Canes side, but a really good fit if they don’t find what they are looking for and need to go to a typical pick, prospect, player package.

Veleno, Walman, 25 1st feels like about as strong of a package as they could expect, but maybe I’m off.

Compher is quite the low end 2nd line center but ok

More of a middle 6 guy

If it’s Compher for Necas one for one, I’m down (you obviously shouldn’t do that). But, I’m assuming you were saying Compher, Berggren, and a 1st which would be a hard no.

Thought they were talking about an earlier comment, still, that would be probably the only roster player from the wings we’d want (that isn’t untouchable)

Idk why they’d even want Necas since he wants 1st line and won’t play above Raymond

I think “1st line” is about deployment, rather than being on the top line. Kane is probably leaving, and there is a hole that needs filled on the 2nd line and top PP unit.

I don't see Detroit giving up top 6 center or a top prospect for a 2nd line winger.

I mean that wouldn't be the entire trade but as a base for a trade that's going to be the demand and I think the Hurricanes would be willing to accept a Marco Kasper type who has that potential

I don't think that the top-6 center needs to necessarily be already an established player in the league but maybe somebody like a Connor Geekie, Shane Wright, or a Marco Kasper who has that potential to be a top-6 center

If I’m being honest, I don’t think any of those players would be on the table in a Necas trade. Aiming too high.

The Hurricanes have all the leverage in a situation
    A. They aren't forced by the cap to move him and they can force him to sign a contract
    B. The line out of the Hurricanes is that they won't accept anything less than a star for Necas

Teams say a lot of things through the media to try and pump up value. Asking for those players and having the other side be willing to include them are two separate things.

I’m dubious of any reports that they will keep him if they don’t like the trade offers. The message from his camp is that he doesn’t feel the system in Carolina is a fit for him. They only hurt his value if they try to play hardball with him on forcing him to sign.
