Laine would be a perfect fit in Montreal for a 2 year trial run to see how it fits. His $8.7M cap hit may seem like a lot but Montreal has tons of space this year and next so it’s worth the risk.
That being said, I can’t see Columbus interested in only picks. I think it takes a young roster player and a pick. Laine has battled injuries, but still carries elite scoring potential.

Perhaps a 2nd + B prospect + Anderson would work for both sides. But as is, I don’t see this working for the Jackets.

...I agree, CBJ wouldn't want just picks, and also don't want quantity over quality. Anderson would be a nonstarter; been there done that, no interest in a reunion, and it's highly likely we're one of the 5 teams on his no trade list. Dvorak would be fine as a similar contract coming back for the year, though.

I'd propose the WPG 1st and Dvorak if MTL doesn't need retention.

I'd do that depending on who is still available at 26, but it would have to be done then in case one of the top 20-ish players is still available.
