The main thing the Leafs did was to jettison some players that did not live up to their contract.....Kessel, Phaneuf, Bernier. They did not get much of return for these players and in some cases had to retain salaries for a year to make the deal. Think you're right...the Avs have to rid themselves of what I imagine is toxic atmosphere in the club. Start fresh with a good cap....Rid yourself of Sakic, Landerskog, Duchene, MacKinnon, Barrie.
PS. Easy for me to say, I don't have to sell tickets and try to convince Avs fans to buy tickets to the games. The Leafs did not have that problem,
