If you think Bobrovsky meant very little and Korpisalo could have shut down the Oilers like Bob did you need to re-learn how to watch hockey. In games 1 and 3 Bobrovsky has made a dozen or so 10 bell saves that very few goalies in the league would get (Vasi, Hellebuyck, Shesterkin are the others at that level).
While it's possible for average goalies to get hot and go to the cup, the elite goalies take their teams deep year after year (if the team is good). Look at Colorado - 1 year wonders because of average goalies, same with STL and Vegas. Now look at Tampa, NYR and Florida with elite goalies - their success is year after year. The recipe for sustained success is an elite goalie, if you want to roll the dice and hope for a hot goalie then be ready for ups and downs that can easily include missing the playoffs.
rofl the ONLY what one would consider elite G that has won the cup recently is Vas in TBL, Vegas won it with a parade of 3Gs that are not even close to being elite, STL won it with a rookie, COL wont it with a rental.
you know **** about hockey if you think a shesterkin is needed to win a cup rofl, more team won cups without a shesterkin type G than with one.
ya bob stole game 1, guess what Korpi and Forsberg BOTH had games like that during the season, ALL Gs have games like that dont mean they vezina candidates. if shesterkin iss soo important, then why i are NYR not in the finals? why did they never win a a cup with king henrik? The team in front of the G is more important than the G that is why.
